Somewhat opaque light ruby red with light brown lacing foam head. Aroma is caramel dominated, taste is bit sweet. Notes of yeast and flowers. Dry aftertaste. (Velp 201312)

Nicely labeled bottle BB 2016. Sparkling dark red with a huge foamy white head that fills the tulip. Smell is a strange mix of coffee, compost and chocolate. Body is light yet quite foamy, fairly high carbonation. Taste - sweet malts with coffee and caramel notes, and an interesting musty dankness. There’s a nice balance to the sweetness. I like the flavour of this - toned down but quite complex. A touch of alcohol. The body lets it down a bit.

Flaska 1998.

Pours nice brown, two finger white head with great lacing. A strong nose, a mix of the typical plum and raisin with some cherry red wine. Nice funky Flanders yeast smell. A low-key flavour with a blend of tart, yeasty apples. More funk than your typical Brune. Dry and bitter. Very little alcohol flavour! Smooth, dry flavour that carries the yeast. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very good Dubbel, Beautiful appearance with dark amber colour and foamy head. In aroma earthy, malty and fruity tones, thin and dry in palate, lively carbonation, earthy aftertaste. Good dubbel.

I like this one. Not too sweet, medium bodied, nuts and some caramel. Great company on an autumn evening like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A straightforward yeasty caramelized belgian amber ale.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed when many months of age, no date on bottle.
The look: Cloudy pale brown body topped by a medium beige head.
In long: Nose is intensely eatery, a lot of fruity esters here along with some toasted wood. In mouth the beer has the spot-on lively mouthfeel like I expect from true Belgium abbey ales. Taste is caramelized malts swimming in a fluffy yeast mixture. Notes of red fruits but overall a lot less fruity in month than from the nose. A relatively low sweetness sensation for the style. but this is a very simple beer, no complexity here.

Dark brown, murky, tan head; aroma of toasted malt; taste of sweet, toasted malt; well carbonated; there’s not much else to say - this was one-dimensional and thin; a big disappointment.
