4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 SHIG (2530) - Osan, SOUTH KOREA - MAR 6, 2007
Bottle: Brown clear amber with creamy off white head. Sweet caramel and nut aroma. Awesome sweet candy roasted nut malt with a slightly diffrent than most brown belgiums must be the aging process.

Pretty good.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 pnista (1007) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - FEB 22, 2007
Pours a ruddy opaque brown with an ample light and light tan head, subsiding slowly. The nose is subtle. Laced with chocolate a rich malty sweetness, and just a touch of that Belgian funk as well as some lactobacillis smelling notes, perhaps more so. The mouthfeel is smooth rich and creamy. The flavors are certainly not disappointing. Creamy and rich malt, slight hints of chocolate, more so caramel malt, though balanced by that yogurty Lactobacillis sort of flavor. A bit fruity, creamy rich finish. There’s a bit of a tartness and fruitiness in the aftertaste. I really enjoyed this beer and would gladly drink more of this. Not a lot of complexity, but man is it nicely formed.

(Bottle) Pours hazy redish brown. Sweet caramell/candy aroma with some (dark) fruits, yeast and notes of spices. Light undertones of cherries, rum/raisins and dark bread/dark malt. Medium sweet, well carbonated but soft mouthfeel. Light caramelly flavour with allmond paste sweetness and earthy undertones. Just a touch of hops and hints of dark bread and spices. Medium body.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jujubeast6000 (854) - Houston, Texas, USA - FEB 16, 2007
(25.4oz bottle): Pours a huge head, light brownish. Active & bubbly. Lasting head, good lacing. Brownish coppery color. Enticing. Sweet aroma, some kind of sweet fruit, ripe green grapes or something light, floweay...can’t name it. Intriguing. Good belgian taste. Flowery taste. Light tasting, refreshing. Not as complex, but tasty.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 vyvvy (2798) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - FEB 7, 2007
Pours dark bronze with a soapy thick tan head. The aroma has dark fruits, raisins, earth, yeastiness, lightly toasted malt and cola aspects. Medium bodied that’s lighter than expected with sharp spritzy carbonation. Flavor starts with toasty malt, dark fruits from the aroma - mainly raisins and figs, and a good amount of earthiness. The finish has some hop spice and some astringency. Nice dubbel.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 DarkMagus (433) - San Jose, California, USA - FEB 4, 2007
Here’s a find. Huge thick tan head, very sticky and coarse, leaving a significant amount of lacing on the glass. Very bright, sweet, fruity aromas with pear, apple, peach, and cherry notes. A delicate spiciness (nutmeg, cinnamon), along with a sweet malt and candy-like base. Flavors were similarly bright and crisp, though slightly sour, with apples and pears coming to the forefront. Sweet malts, bready yeast, and a hint of hops complemented the overall sweetness of this brew. The spiciness was present, but was of a mysterious and undefined nature. The mouthfeel was silky and velvety, and the carbonation produced a slight prickly feeling on the tongue. Nice bitter and dry finish, creating a very well-rounded, complex, and balanced experience. Really nice stuff.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 frankenkitty (1953) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - FEB 1, 2007
A beautiful pour, time after time from the endless 750ml bottle... well-hazed bronze (fine sediment, mild carbonation) topped with a pearly, ecru head that held thick and clung in a sticky sheet. Aromas are woodsy, tart, yeasty, yogurty, cherries (not sweet), mild vinegar and alcohol. Flavor has an annoying metallic quality that does not disperse. Otherwise, a creamy mouth carries a flavorful melange of fruity yeasts and malts with enough tartness to initiate those looking for an introductory "Sour".
