Hey, it’s my 750th rating, so let’s rate something from a 750 ml bottle. And that means Belgian! Pours a deep brown with golden highlights. Rocky ecru head fed by streams of bubble. Smells sweet and malty, with a touch of brett. Taste is nice, crisp golden malt. Sweet, but without the usual candi sugar overload. Alcohol warming builds very slowly. Light suggestions of brandy or sherry. Bubbly continues well down the bottle, making it pretty filling. Should be enjoyed with a good meal. beerledgend (919), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand Jan 23, 2006 Ruby red in colour with very"old spice" taste. A very different style from Belgium. stouby (1931), Holbaek, Denmark Jan 22, 2006 Bottle, at Benny.
Dark golden with a large off-white head, almost diminishing, unfiltered. Aroma moderate malty, light hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and acidic/sour, long duration. Light body, watery, soft carbonated.
Must be tried again, I got all the sediment in the bottom. The others samples were much better. Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 22, 2006 Bottle. White head. Dark amber body. Aroma of green apples. Spicy flavor with hints of berries. FrankJohansen (3329), Sabro, Denmark Jan 21, 2006 Brownish colour with a medium laasting head. Aroma of malts and fruits. Sweet flavoured. Great beer. fatty (363), Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 11, 2006 Copper, nearly mahogany body with floaties and medium fine bubbly off-white head. Aroma of yeast, malt, cane sugar. The aroma has carmel, dried apples, and malt. . Very dark brown and cloudy. No head at all, and very little sediment. Flavor is sweet malt and some fruit, as well as surprising smoke in considerable quantity, with an earthy quality as well. Heavy palate. Sampled on draught at De Garre in Bruges, March 2007. Score raised. Previous 8/4/7/5/15 luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jan 9, 2006 Updated: Dec 24, 2006Originally had this at Vail Beer Fest in early ’06. 7/4/7/3/14.<P>
