I found this on tap at the Bulldog bar and restaurant in Minneapolis. Very enjoyable aroma and taste. Wood, fruit and spice character. Definitely a beer I would have again.

(07.15.06) One pint 9.4 oz brown bottle from Firkin, Libertyville, IL. 6.7% ABV. Fruity malty aroma. Poured clear brown with small off-white head. No discernable carbonation. Medium bodied ale that starts dry with light malt, fruity, spicy flavors. Finished dry with light malt fade. No discernable hop presence. Very dry but decent and drinkable Belgium ale.

Purchased 750 ML bottle at Perry’s Liquors- Livermore, CA. Poured into classic Trappist glass. Pours rich and dark rosewood color. Bouquet: woody, malty, I agree with the plums-figs-cherries- raw chocolate description. I’ll add licorice as well. Flavor profile: citrusy, almost minty (at the right serving temperature) finishes with figs, dates, chocloate malts. Aftertaste: nutmeg, baby!

Bottled(330ml). -Dark brown coloured, medium pale beige head, sweet licorice sherry nose. Aroma is malty, very fruity (plums, figs, cherries) and yeasty with notes of caramel and toffee. Slight spicy with nice acidic bitter finish. Very nice Abbey Dubbel.

Pours deep amber into a trappist glass. Thick micro head does not recede -- very nice looking. Smoked orange peel aromas. Dry with upfront citrus and pit fruits with creamy lasting slightly bitter finish.

Bought @ Steilacoom Wine and Brew. On tap, this beer pours more like a micro beer than a Belgian ale, with not much head that dissipates quickly. The aromas fall away with the head and I am left with a little maltiness, and maybe some licorice. On the tongue this beer shines, smooth, malty with just the right amount of carbonation... and somewhere in the background this beer has a little sour that hints, but never takes over the flavor. All in all a drinkable, but not outstanding brown with nice yeasty overtones but lacking in body and umph.

Draft@ Oakmont National, Havertown PA. Deep brown color. Musty Aroma. Flavor is pretty funky and reminded me of fruitcake. Very interesting.
