Absolutely amazing Belgian brew! On tap from the Green Leafe in Williamsburg, VA. Poured with near black color with slight red hue... thick off-white head that lingers throughout the trappist. Great fruit notes of plum and perhaps cherry that tingles the whole palate. Very smooth finish. Superb Belgian!

On tap. Dark brown, off white head. Aroma is molasses, malt, and musty. Flavor is malt, molasses, caramel, and well balance, but not as complex as I expected. Still good.

25 oz bottle, Stateline Liquors. Pours a clear medium brown colored body under a thinnish large bubbled foamy light brown head. Some nice lacing remained. Aroma is quite malty with a hefty dose of belgian yeast. Lots of dark fruits with some toffee and nuttiness. Flavor is very fruity but not especially sweet, more of a nutty malt aspect. The yeast along with some alcohol rounds out the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a moderate fizzy level of carbonation. Texture is slightly syrupy but gets creamier on the finish. Overall, a real nice Dubbel, but it needed a little more malt and more complexity in the flavor.

Pours reddish with a tan head. Smells perfumy with a nice wild floral tinge. Tastes of mild sugar, some tangy hops and cherries as well as a slight peppery finish.

Bottle. Bronze-coloured, rich offwhite lacing head. Yeasty and fruity aromas. Sweet, fruity and spicy flavours, good yeastiness midway, but rather short finish. Good carbonation. Quite complex fruitiness, a little on the sweet and spicy side.

On tap at the Green Leafe. Big brown pour with a big malty nose...interesting. Dark fruity flavors....roasty, malty, light sweetness. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Smooth....got better as it warmed.

Dark brown. Pours with big bubbles, very gassy and lively. Yeasty and dark malt aroma, as well as some dark candy. Same for the taste. A good advice - keep this in Your cellar

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2007 750ml bottle, 6.7%abv. Aroma is primarily malty and sweet with a good amount of dark brown sugar, has some yeast and fruity attributes though, contributing notes of pomegranate, red grape and faint plum, along with a less distinct doughy, musty hint and a slight flowery, herbal tinge. Deep, hazy, rusty red-brown color with a lasting, foamy off-white head and the lace in uneven sheets. Flavor is interesting and fairly consistent from start to finish, malty, roasty and lightly sweet with a juicy, tangy, fruity aspect lightly permeating, and in the background suggestions of milky chocolate, old wood and a very light bitterness. Mouthfeel is quite creamy and smoothly effervescent, body is medium-full. Mild-mannered but well-built. Thanks to Kinz!
