Hazy brown in colour with a dense tan head. Aroma of sugars, fruit, malt and tart flavours. Medium-bodied; Nutty flavours with malt and little else. Overall, a nice beer and a great treat! I sampled this 75 cL bottle on 15-May-2004 at the May RB Party in Toronto, Ontario.

Murky brown color with a thin white head. Leathery yeast aroma with alcohol. Flavor of leathery yeast, caramel and alcohol, bitter finish. Light to medium body, soft carbonation, creamy texture. Well, this is the beer I like the least form St.Bernardus, on the brink of ordinary.

Obvious spice and caramel dominate your first impression of this Bruin beer. Very smooth somewhat candy-sweet and nutty flavours make it easy drinking but warn you against guzzling. Body is a little thin - maybe I should give it some of my spare tire....Not bad - cheers joey capps.

Sampled at Beer Mania in Brussels, Belgium. Dark Orange. The aroma was fairly subtle, roses being the most enjoyable but dark fruits, cinnamon and pepper. Dry and medicinal throughout with notes of dark fruits, nuts and cinnamon and a suggestion of cellar mustiness as well.

750 ml. big ’ole brown Belgian bottle. Corked and caged. No freshness date seen. Loud pop released the cork. Poured out a murky, hazy brown color, with an artificial tan head. Very effervescent, high level of carbonation. Fizzy even. Aromas are of stale Christmas cookies. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and a slight aroma of walnut extract make up the bulk of aromas and flavors of this beer. Hard to get used to. Bone dry on the palate. Thin mouthfeel. Not a good beer in my humble opinion.

(Draught) Pours a medium brown with a small beige head. Sweet malt and corriander flavor. Nice, but almost too simple.

Surprisingly dry thinbodied, not what you would expect from the appearance (dark, almost black, with a nice medium light brown head that stays). A light bitter taste with a salty and chalky finish. Takes a bit of getting used to, but overall, it’s quite a nice beer.

Brown with an OK head. Nice cinnamon spice aroma but the flavor doesn’t live up. A bit thin, albeit with nice carbonation. Definitely worth trying since it is unique and kinda tasty but it’s hardly mindblowing. Lots better as it warms. 70+ is better than 55 for sure on this one.
