Bottle. Brown, hazy. Nose isn’t really bruin- like at all. a bit of green herbal hoppyness, yeasty spices, rye and hay in the malts. there’s a sort of abbey yeast signature there, but most everything else feels strange. body nice medium, a bit oily. easy to drink, enjoyable. not quite orval, but it shares some of the same strangeness.

Kandij(suiker) in de neus. Donker bruin, volle schuimkraag. Zoet in de afdronk, siroop, kruidig, beetje pittig. Licht alcoholisch. Blijft wat hangen in de nasmaak, beetje kleverig

Michael Jackson is apparently a HUGE fan of this beer. It’s like a light version of a quad - which is ok, but it lacks the dramatic impact that you get from a quad. It’s true that there is complexity, but at the same time, the flavors blend together somewhat. Raisins, figs, dates, toffee, caramel malt. The head is very fizzy, which I don’t care for. If they would add some floral hops (or just more hops of any kind), I think it would be much better.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 McTapps (1624) - Ruhrgebiet, GERMANY - JUN 6, 2013
Had quite some big hopes into this one but expected more of another 3.5-scored Belgium beer and got really overwhelmed by it. It has got a cloudy hazelnut colour with steady creamy head and smooth body. Nose of beautiful Belgian yeast and nuts. Taste of freshly aromatic hops, Belgian yeast, fresh coriander, ginger, cumin, cinnamon and cloves. Hints of nuts and malt, the finish is very much roses. I enjoyed it a lot, would drink it again just anytime.

What a nice surprise. I mean, you think a big abbey dubbel would be sweet from start to end with some heavy aromas ? This one is in the near of being watery and the first beer of my life that tastes likes a lambic with loads of cherries without being anything like that. Great, sourish beer with geuze-style all the way.

Bought a bottle at Bert’s Bierhuis. Aroma of caramel, honey and sherry. Has a maroon color and a soapy cream colored head, and is highly carbonated. Taste of caramel, honey and some spices. The flavour is sweet and a little sour and has a bitter aftertaste. A nice beer, but I prefer Bernardus Pater or Prior 8 from this brewery.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/22/2010 date on the bottom. Pours lightly cloudy light reddish brown color with a nice 2-3 finger fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass; with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, raisin, apple, pepper, clove, floral, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with light-moderate malt balance. Taste of pear, apple, raisin, clove, pepper, floral, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, clove, pepper, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, floral, and earthiness on the finish for a bit. Excellent balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with moderate bready malt balance; with a great spicy ester balance with malt; and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent Belgian dark ale! All around great balance and complexity of malt and yeast flavors; very smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Not sure, but mighta had this at the Bier Markt. 330 mL bottle. (bb 24-10-14). Lighter in colour than I expected. Big head. Smells sweet, nutty, with some dark fruit. Nice. The flavour is much simpler than the nose suggests, unfortunately. Sweetish. Body is smooth and kinda mild.

Mycket god, söt och mjuk i smaken. Smak och doft av karamell, malt, humle, örter. Gott.
