750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/22/2010 date on the bottom. Pours lightly cloudy light reddish brown color with a nice 2-3 finger fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass; with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, raisin, apple, pepper, clove, floral, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with light-moderate malt balance. Taste of pear, apple, raisin, clove, pepper, floral, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, clove, pepper, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, floral, and earthiness on the finish for a bit. Excellent balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with moderate bready malt balance; with a great spicy ester balance with malt; and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent Belgian dark ale! All around great balance and complexity of malt and yeast flavors; very smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Not sure, but mighta had this at the Bier Markt. 330 mL bottle. (bb 24-10-14). Lighter in colour than I expected. Big head. Smells sweet, nutty, with some dark fruit. Nice. The flavour is much simpler than the nose suggests, unfortunately. Sweetish. Body is smooth and kinda mild.

Mycket god, söt och mjuk i smaken. Smak och doft av karamell, malt, humle, örter. Gott.

Bottle 330ml @ Sommerhus
Pours clear brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, yeast and fruits. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is meidum, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Flaske fra skibsrederens egenimport: aroma av korinter og sjokolade. Nydelig rød mahognyfarge med højt cremeskum. Egenartet smak med høy drikkbarhet. Må prøves i Belgia til sommeren!

Slight aroma, gingerbread, Appearance not the best, Taste: black bread, hint of licorice. Palate leaves slight burnt black bread, bitterness. Overall good, but I can not say anything sticks out in particular.

pours hazy light nutty-brown with a nice light beige head, good retention and lacing. intense and complex fruitiness layered in dry caramel and demerara, candied and dried fruits too, grassy-aged hops, fairly yeasty - big earthy, some basement notes, some sweetness, although very far from cloying. short but assertive and very nice grassy-spicy finish. bright carbonation, light to medium body. enjoyed it a lot - complex yet very drinkable for a dubbel!

Dark brown. Clear, Nice lasting beige head. Aroma "zuurtje" and some dust. Hardly any taste, very distant dried fruit, banana. Why is this rated so high?

Pours maple syrup brown with a small but persistent head which leaves a good amount of lacing. Nose is full of sweet malts with some spices displayed in a very restrained manner. Mouthfeel is smooth with ample carbonation. Taste is sweet with balance toward malt flavors. There is also a bit of roastiness I think but I’m not really set on that. In fact it is more like some black pepper, the cheap powdered variety. Overall a good beer without any flaws.

Zeer lekker biertje! Er zijn veel goede beschrijvingen. Wat ik wil toevoegen: zacht biertje wat ook zeer goed bij eten past.
