Lots of hops/bitterness, with little sweetness. The aroma is much sweeter, with caramel and spice that is not in the flavor crazyvin (1080), New York, USA Sep 3, 2008 decent, but mediocre dubbel. Poured a nice brown hue with a tan head that had good retention and some lacing. Aroma was malty mostly fruity but some yeasty notes. Flavor was also rich in malts, fruitiness mostly and a hint of sugary notes, a bread like finish. Hops were slightly bitter. Carbonation was minimal. Chrism86 (80), Melbourne, Australia Aug 29, 2008 Pours a dull, deep ruby tending to auburn with a substantial but rather loosely packed off white head. Aromas are dominated by honey and caramel with obvious banana and hinting raisins. Palate seems alot more reserved. Caramel/toffee seem to accompany sweet malt with yeasty banana characters coming through. Finish is rather malty with subtleties of liquered raisins. Ober (308), Best, Netherlands Aug 20, 2008 A hazy red/brown colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. It leaves a nice lace on the glass. he aroma a dark fruits, sweets and caramel malts. the taste is a little spicey, fruits, a little cherry and prune. Very little aftertaste.
