2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Cask conditioned handpump Coal Hole London 05/07/13. A golden coloured beer with a tight white head and lace. Excuse my bad manners but this is an ill conceived beer really. Lemony notes but a weird sweetness. Quite plain in the mouth apart from an off-putting fartiness. Not special. One step beyond good in the wrong direction. Don’t select(er) this beer.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from B&M Canterbury and drunk at home. Clear orange gold colour with lasting thick white head. Not a great aroma. Better in the mouth with some citrus lemon and lime flavour. Finish is the best with some hop sting. Aroma is a little off putting. It’s ok. I’d drink a half of it for the finish. Definitely wouldn’t buy it again though.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Tesco, Watford. Poured a clear, dark golden colour with a halo of white head. Incredibly light aroma, some pilsener malt and a weird hint of Vaseline. Similar lack of flavour; light grain and some peach-like sweetness. Watery on the palate with a hint of malt and caramel. If the aim was to brew an ale that tasted like a bland, mass-produced lager; they pretty much got it.

2.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle. Light copper with a decent white head. Mild yeasty aroma. Flavour is quite sweet, mild grain, a little dank earthiness but not in a particularly unpleasant way. A little citrus. Not much bitterness. Reasonable alternative to a generic lager, but that’s all.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle from B&M Blaydon, chilled for an hour in the fridge and served in a shaker. Orangey gold body with a white head that disappeared. Marzipan and farmyard aroma. First impression is that it needs more chilling. Nuts and a slightly herbal flavour. Heavy for the ABV - this is becoming a feature of the lighter beers of this brewery for me, I have much preferred their darker, more robust beers. I’m not getting anything "reminiscent of a pilsner" here. Nothing sharp, refreshing, or astringent. More disappointing dullness. I think I’ll have a Citra
