3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Grumpy troll Baltic porter. 22oz bottle thanks to drew... Pours a dark chocolate cola brown with
reddish brown edges with a thin light beige head... Roasted malt comes
through majorly in the nose wit softer dark fruits lingering in the
background... Flavors follow suit nicely and in a good way. Upfront
roast followed up with chocolate and dark fruits to a lesser extent.
Clean with mild carbonation. Body good. Nicely done.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the pub. Deep black brown appearance with a light head that settles back into the beer. Great aroma - coffee, toffee, roasted malts, molasses, brown sugar. Taste mimics the aroma and is full and extremely smooth. Residual bitterness and coffee flavor. I would highly recommend trying if you go.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brew pub. This pours a deep black or deep ruby when held up to the light, with little to no head to speak of save the little ring of bubbles around the outside of the glass. The aroma is fresh deep roasted coffee with a bit of licorice and some deep charred oak with a light floral thing going on in the back ground. The flavor is dominated by a nice licorice and roasty coffee thing. There is a mild hop zing with notes of raisin and brighter fruity characteristics as well. Pretty excellent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap @ Grumpy Troll - Pours deep translucent black with next to no head. Smells of deep, dark sweet malt, molasses, and a bit of milkiness. Tastes nice and malty with dark chocolate, lactose, and a touch of hoppiness. Some alcohol warmth on the finish. Lots of carbonation kind of distracts, but itís medium-bodied and pleasant.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Aroma of clean roasted malt. Dark brown. Definite lagering notes. Flavor is a rich malted sweetness. Hints of roast. Lingering spicy bitterness on the back of the palate. Much more enjoyable than the wretched Maggie IIPA.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Grumpy Troll Amnesia looks like itís the darkest brown ever, with a thin, frothy mocha head with oily bubbles on top. It smells like chocolate-covered raisins and sweet malt. In the mouth, itís creamy, chewy and medium-full bodied with a soft finish. There are deep flavors of raisin and prune, dark, sweet bread and Dr. Pepper. Itís very rich and enjoyable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown pour with a finger of creamy tan head, only temporary lace. Rich chocolate aroma with some underlying smoke. First sip is a all chocolate malts and deliciously creamy. As the beer opens up, the roast malts develop more character, a lot of dark fruits here, cherries and raisins, and an underlying sweetness. Somewhat of a generalized fruitiness even to the basic malt backbone. This is kind of a chocolate banana split rendered it beer form. Full bodied, smooth, creamy. Overall rocking.
