3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Grumpy Troll as Monk – one of my favorite TV shows... Yellow with a thin white topper. Aroma is up front yeasty with toasted malt, noble hops and some fruit, grains and sugars lurking in the background. Taste is fruity with Belgian yeast, fruits, sweet malt and candi sugar. Rather sweet throughout.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Was just called Monk when I was there in 2012. Unfiltered orange-tan. Big, bold, sweet orange candy sugar tones like a Tripel. Not that impressive, but drinkable. Nice malt tones, almost like a big doughy bock at times.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Samples at the brewpub and a few growlers at home. Clear golden pour with a big white head. Bubblegum, clove, and pear in the aroma. Flavor bursts with the bubblegum, some pepper, apple, pear, and belgian yeast notes finish this one out. A touch of sweetness in the finish, but it helps balance out the other flavors. Noticeable alcohol finish as to be expected for the ABV range.
