22 ounce bottle that poured a dark black color with a tan frothy head. Aromas of roasted coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate, and some cream. Flavors are the same as the aroma, they blended nicely and was a real good stout overall, I wish I had more.

Thirsty Troll Brew Fest. Pour is black with a tan head. Aroma shows dark chocolate, coffee, and moderate roast. Flavor shows the same with cocoa powder and dark fruit notes appearing from time to time. Overall body is full and finishes with some nice roasted bitterness as well as a touch of alc.

On tap at brewpub, has a very dark apperance with a creamy white head, overall it was light on the aroma and the taste both, some notes of chocolate and coffee just not enough, has a thin mouthfeel.

The Dan Journal #341. Tasted 3/28/10. 220z bomber. Pitch opaque hue with a khaki head. Aromas of chalky cocoa dust and dark chocolate. Good malty nose. Full bodied with a thick body and a great rolling palate. Flacors of dark chocolate and bitter coffee. Great flow with great flavors. Good chocolate flavor but still has a dry finish. Nice drinking with a ton of chocolate.

9/05/2009: Grumpy Troll Imperial Stout... Aroma: Roasted coffee and cream; dark chocolate. Appearance: Near black in color, opaque; dense, frothy, tan-colored head and decent lacing. Flavor: Seems burnt; some semi-sweet chocolately; sourish; dusty like cocoa powder. Palate: Medium-bodied; feels thin on the palate. Overall: More like bigger brown although the hefty alcohol is well-hidden; somewhat lacking overall for an Imperial Stout though...
Draught (ABV 11% / 55 IBUs) at The Grumpy Troll Brew Pub in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. Rating #1 for this beer.

Aroma of toasted dark malt, bitter coffee, some chocolate and black licorice. On tap at the brewpub 7/31/09, listed as Imperial Stout (11% abv): Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and chocolate with a hint of tart cherries and smoke. Starts with good fullness and rich dark chocolate with some tart fruity notes before a slightly warming earthy sweet tart finish with some lingering roasty coffee character. Would be better without the tartness.

Tap at the brewery, although it was just called Imperial Stout. Pitch black. Lots of dark bitter chocolate aromas. More dark chocolate and some coffee and just a hint of alcohol in the end.
