Murky gold pour, small active white head, leaves a few spots of lace. Somewhat faint yeast-clove aroma. Flavor has a lot of spice, mostly clove, on the front, moves on to fruit, lemon zest, not-quite-ripe pear. Finishes with banana, wheat husk, some fruit syrup. Medium body, very zesty up front, finishes a little flat and heavy. Lots of flavor here, but it just didn’t come together for me.

On tap at the brewpub, pours cloudy, exciting aroma. Very banana/yeasty nose. Taste is similar, it almost has a banana pudding flavor. This is one of my favorite hefies. Talking to one of the brewers, he said they had recently changed the yeast to a Belgian strain, and he was quite pleased with the improvement in flavor. If you didn’t like it before April 2009, try it again.

Aroma of bubblegum and banana, so distinct that it almost seemed artificial. Had an appearance like it was going to be thin, but that bubblegum and banana showed up big time in flavor, with a little sweetness as a kicker. Very good yeast used here ,because those esters showed up big time. Very flavorful Hefe.

It could fairly be called a kristalweizen. Light wheat character, only a little sweet. Easy to drink, it lacking palate, aroma, and flavor. Some banana in there, but not nearly enough of it. Surely filtered.

Pours a slisghtly cloudy, dull orange-golden colour with a creamy finger sized white head. Aroma is soft of bananna and apples. Creamy, wheaty and soft citrus character throughout.

heemer77 (5104) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JAN 9, 2008
On tap at the brewpub. The body was hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma was classic light banana with some light clove. There was also some rising bread dough. The taste has some strong banana with some biscuits. There is also strong clove spice in the finish. Plenty of carbonation. The finish becomes tropical as it warms, almost like mango. Solid.

Milky and murky white and yellow color. Nose of citrus, wheat, hay, oranges and other citrus notes. Heavy wheat on the palate, almost think and gritty, but also soft and mellow and smooth, creamy even, with a pretty typical wheat note and a secondary orange/lemon citrus note. Well made.
