3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 pivnizub (7239) - Bochum, Porúří, - FEB 7, 2010
Bottle: almost clear, ruby-amber coloured, stable mid-sized beige head; moderate sweet fruity nose (dried berries), lots of caramel, molecular traces of alcohol and a tinge of roasted malt in the nose; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, quite slim for a beer of 9.8%; a faint touch of alcohol is waving is waving through the sweet caramelly and light bitter finish. A bit on the sweet side, but not bad at all......

Bottle looks good, label a bit complex. Beer in the glass very dark, small head. Starts strong, roasty malty, quite alcoholic, fruity like raisins. Finish still strong, warming, still alcoholic, intense malty. Not bad at all!

bottle. Did I receive it from pivnizub or Bierkoning? To be honest, I can’t remember, it was in my box of Dutch goodies. Thank you very much to whoever sent it to me! Deep brown colour with a red glow, very large beige head. Sweet and malty nose with caramel. Very full-bodied, intensively malty, lots of caramel, dark honey and spices. Sweet, hardly bitter at all, shy herbal hoppy flavours are detectable hovering in the background. A lot of the carbonation seems to have gone into the enormous head, as there is hardly any carbonation in the beer. A delicious winter warmer.

330ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam)
Very deep red, enormous head - bigger than the beer itself despite pouring very carefully. Rich sweet burnt bready and caramelly aroma. Simple dark roasts, plummy and vinous mouthfeel. Pleasant carbonation. Quite an alcoholic kick, but sweet and fruity malts cover that somewhat. Finish has a pleasant bitter hoppy bite. Sweetness, toffee, plums, dates, and raisins make this quite tasty. Sticky sugars and alcohol taint the experience.
