"Gruut" is an ancient Flemish coin. In medieval Ghent, brewers used Gruuts to pay taxes on the richness of their brew. Gentse Stadsbrouwerij has revived this ancient tradition with Gruut Amber Ale. Enjoy it’s rich taste, deep copper color, and smooth-drink-ability.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet Norway, on order. AMber color, good foam. Medium aroma intensity; malty, lightly roasted, subtle dried fruits and some caramel in the finish. Medium body & complexity. Some sweetness, balances ok. Enjoyable

Tasting set on draft at the brewery. Amber a deeper more opaque brown than the Brown with a bready plum pudding aroma. The taste is rich bready, spicy with a full mouthfeel. Really nice and easy drinking somewhat dubbel like.

Draught. Almost clear deep copper liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of raw sugar, toffee, raisins, bread and biscuit. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar and biscuit. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Meh.

Ambar castaña. Clara. Aroma malteado y a fruto seco.

courtesy of bartlebier, thanks! Herbal, fragrant nose, (if it wasn’t without any hops I’d say British hops with herbal, Cognac, Banana, Gingerbread notes), a lot of caramel, some caramelised oak as well and prunes/figs/raisins. Taste – on the verge of being too sweet - brings up sugar in different states: cotton candied, caramelized, burnt, powdered, some dried fruits again together with the subtle herbs again. A bit like a sugary Irish Red. Anyway quite nice.

Brown/red amber appearance with beige/light brown head. First impression was a malty odor. Taste was more caramel than malty - less fruity. Light hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Light to medium taste. Quite tasty - liked it but prefer "Dikke Mathile"

Brown/red amber clear with small beige head. Watery roasted caramel followed by some hoppy bitterness.
