COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Gruut" is an ancient Flemish coin. In medieval Ghent, brewers used Gruuts to pay taxes on the richness of their brew. Gentse Stadsbrouwerij has revived this ancient tradition with Gruut Amber Ale. Enjoy it’s rich taste, deep copper color, and smooth-drink-ability.

@ stadsbrouwerij Gruut. Heldere amberkleur, plakkerige kraag. Ruikt metaalachtig. Weinig body. Smaakt zoetmoutig. Niks speciaals.

Postupně sem budu doplňopvat piva, co jsem vypil a zapsal si, chvilku to asi bude trvat a proto k těm dříve vypitým pivům nebudou žádné "dojmy" .

(From notes 7 Oct, 2012) Tap. Beautiful, clear amber color. Not much head, at least this time. It’s a bit sweet/malty, some herbs obviously (but what, I can’t tell). Feels watery. I tried this immediately as I saw it, knowing it is produced without hops. It was okay as a curiosity, but not something I would have again.

bottle. amber-red. clear. nose has a bit of cardboardish-malts. or bready.. munich- like toastiness. but malty, all the less, like an oktoberfest bier. Some strangish herbalness also present. Body is medium/full. good malt flavor, some sweetness. some corn, butter. Some DMS (the butter, the corn..). Quite enjoyable. In a blind-tasting I would probably guess it as a DMS-rich dark continental lager. Czech probably. A nice experience.

330ml bottle. Clear copper color. Tiny white head, disappears quickly. Malty, faint caramel in aroma. Sweetish, malty, caramel, mild hops, minerals in flavor. Smooth, buttery mothfeel.

33cl Bottle @ De Bierboom, Brugge on 4th July 2012. Clear body with an amber hue: thin head of off-white bubbles. Caramel and other malty aromas in the nose, some yeast hunts hidden at the back as well. The taste was also malty caramel and on the semi-sweet side with the yeast esters not showing in the flavours within the mouth. Medium bodied and rich enough to carry the sweetness without turning the beer into a sickly mess. My sweet tooth loved it (I even bought a bottle to bring home).
