COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Gruut" is an ancient Flemish coin. In medieval Ghent, brewers used Gruuts to pay taxes on the richness of their brew. Gentse Stadsbrouwerij has revived this tradition with Gruut Wit Beer. Enjoy it’s natural cloudiness, golden color, and refreshing finish.

Taster draft at brewery. Wit cloudy soft light gold, mild lemony wheat cake aroma. Soft bodied. The taste is very wheaty, honey, oats, mild spices. The spices mostly show in the aftertaste. Super light & drinkable. 3.4

330mL bottle from Internation Beer Collector BB 27/10/16 Hazy straw body, holds a small dense white head. Nose is quite punchy - cereals/grains, white pepper, orange peel, sweet earthy coriander seed spice. Medium body, zesty touch of acidity, carbonation somewhat high. Very grain once again (oats?), citrus peel quite prominent, spicy, earthy finish. Dry, lingering, restrained bitterness. Bit strange, not sure of the balance - slightly lactic? Not my cuppa tea either way.

On tap at the brewery. Hazy pale yellow with a white head. Modest grainy and wheaty aroma with yeasty and slightly fruity notes with hints of banana, citrus and spices. Moderate sweet with fairly modest flavours and a very light bitterness. Drinkable, but hardly memorable.

Bottle at Känguruh Pub. Mild, refreshing, easy drinkable but also a bit watery. Good but nothing special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan, opened at The Unholy Trinity Meets Again, Sønderborg. Pours cloudy straw with airy white head. Clear aroma of yeast and malt, with some subtle spicy notes. Bitter and dusty flavour of hops and spices, with estery and malty notes. Estery and malty finish. Okay but nothing really impressive. I don’t know whether the dusty notes are meant to be there.
