"Gruut" is an ancient Flemish coin. In medieval Ghent, brewers used Gruuts to pay taxes on the richness of their brew. Gentse Stadsbrouwerij has revived this tradition with Gruut Wit Beer. Enjoy its natural cloudiness, golden color, and refreshing finish.

bottle. Hazy pale golden with one finger head. Extremely underwhelming witbier. Some bland wheat and thats about it. No citrus at all, and almost no wit spicing. Expected far more from a Belgian wit.

6/3/2011 11:56:43 PM Bottle from Bierparadijs. Light yellow body with big head. Nose of fruits, bananas and sour. Taste is also very fruity with bananas and citrus notes in full effect. Finish a bit tangy. Enjoyable.

Taster draft at brewery. Wit cloudy soft light gold, mild lemony wheat cake aroma. Soft bodied. The taste is very wheaty, honey, oats, mild spices. The spices mostly show in the aftertaste. Super light & drinkable. 3.4

330mL bottle from Internation Beer Collector BB 27/10/16 Hazy straw body, holds a small dense white head. Nose is quite punchy - cereals/grains, white pepper, orange peel, sweet earthy coriander seed spice. Medium body, zesty touch of acidity, carbonation somewhat high. Very grain once again (oats?), citrus peel quite prominent, spicy, earthy finish. Dry, lingering, restrained bitterness. Bit strange, not sure of the balance - slightly lactic? Not my cuppa tea either way.
