Bottle. I didn’t expect that much from this.. Pours out a hazy brownish colour with a beautiful off white, two-finger of head on top. Aroma is fruity, spicy with touches of cinnamon and the gruut I guess. Not much of typical Belgian yeastiness, which is a good thing. Flavour is moderately sweet with loads of red fruits and spices. This is so much better than the Gruut Blonde. Little bit of alcohol detected in the far end of the flavours, but certainly not disturbing. Medium long, sweet finish. This is actually quite a good beer!

Brota con color ambar oscuro, coronada por una capa beige, cerrada y cremosa, que presenta bastante buena retención y deja anillos de encaje en las paredes. El perfil aromático es espectacular: caramelos, leve menta fresca, matices de mandarina y sutiles melazas; asi como trazos de granos de anis y frambuesas. El sabor de maltas tostadas al primer sorbo en la fresca entrada preceden a las notas de azucar anisado. Cuerpo medio/intenso y carbonatación moderada. En el intermedio, sensación de malta tostada redondeada por fruta madura. Textura denso/aguada. Astringencia de frutos secos que persiste en el largo y dulce final. El ABV se percibe como una agradable sensación cálida ascendente en el retrogusto. 330ml bottle. Labeled as Gruit -Commercial name for Spanish Market-. Oversized glass. Enjoyed on jun´13. Pours dark amber headed by beige, close & creamy crown. Fairly good retention. Lacing rings on sides are left. Aromatic profile is great: candies, slight fresh mint, hints of ripe tangerine & subtle molasses as well as anise & framboos hues. Toasted malt flavor at first sip & crispy upfront are followed by aniseed sugar notes. Full to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Toasted malt sensation rounded by ripe fruit in the middle. Oily to watery texture. Dried nut astringency lingers into a long sweet finish. ABV is felt as a growing gentle warm sensation on the aftertaste.

33cl at brewery gruut. Light brown with a white head. Aroma of spices and yeast. Taste is very sweet caramel. **

Tap sample at the brewpub. Clear dark amber/brown colour, off-white head. Aroma is quite sweet, caramel, light spicy, dark fruits. Flavour is also quite sweet, malty, caramel, spicy, dark fruits, liquorice, hint of toast, sweet finish. Smooth and soft mouthfeel, but too sweet. Medium-bodied.

Bottle. Sweet, herbal, alcohol, a bit oily. Flowers, caramel. Interesting, but I would not ask for one more.

@ Stadsbrouwerij Gruut. Troebel oranjebruine kleur,redelijke kraag. Smaakt fruitig, lichte caramel. Zoetbitterzuur. Wel aardig.

Bottle from Belgisk Bryg. Brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of caramel, malt, chocolate and alcohol.

Flaske fra Belgisk Bryg, delt med Egil: nydelig, typisk sødmefylt dubbelaroma. Fyldig og behagelig smak, umulig å si at der ikke er brukt humler. Iflg bryggeriet er det urter og nøtter. Meget interessant opplevelse. Må prøve de andre fra dette bryggeriet!
