COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gruut brown beer has a deep brownish colour with a golden touch and develops a delicate and stable foam. The degustation is surprising but very pleasant. The beer has character and the presence of abundantly much taste.

330ml bottle. Clear reddish brown colour with small to average, firm, frothy, moderately lacing, off-white head. Dark malty aroma has notes of dark berries, milk chocolate, decent dry, leather-like overtone. Taste is minimally sourish with dark fruity notes, plum, later dry with a leather touch, also some yeast. A composition with flavours that could do but don’t.

bottle. brown with some reddish/amber notes. hay. nose has a good punch of caramel, sweetish malts and yeast esters. some licorice and herbal notes as well. palate is soft, thick and full, almost like a tut-gut or other malz drink. quite low carbonation. sweetish malts, some .. oak or .. twigs.. herbs. a strange vegetal finish. Overall, on the nose, a very nice belgian double/quad, but very thick and syrupy on the palate. Almost overpowering dense. Nice still, but one is plenty for sharing.

Hazy red-brown colour. Aroma of malts, sweet red fruits, yeast and spices. Flavour is very sweet but is well balanced with the spiciness.

It’s an abbey dubbel and precisely what a dubbel should be. Has nothing particular either. It’s a decent dubbel that I will have forgotten tomorrow, which is both good and bad. Bottle from Van Erp in Roden.

20cl on draft @ Gruut, Gent Caramel and alcohol aroma. Mostly sweet taste, toast, caramel a bit vanilla. Odd but pleasant aftertaste, a bit too much lasting.
