1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - APR 8, 2009
Bottle from Stadium Liquors in Burbank, Illinois: This pours a clear amber body and, for a few seconds, a really tall fizzy head. It has an aroma of candy corn that was melted by the posterior heat of a fat lady on a CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) bus in mid-August. (If it was a fat fellow, I would’ve rated the aroma lower.) The flavor is really-really-really sweet corn syrup and some grainy malt, dirty, with a bored alcohol hiccup at the end. The finish was sticky sweet, spoiled, and cried out for a good tooth-brushing and aniseptic mouthwash.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 frankenkitty (1958) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - AUG 4, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 8, 2006 Grybów seems to have changed their label from Red to Gold to Green... possibly for the export version of this beer. I hope to have a <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beerimages/full_size/ photo up soon.
Hazy amber, sediment late, mostly flat, with a whitish head that fades to scum... then completely disappears. Cooked vegetable aroma with sweet pale malts and dog kibble beneath. Malted flavor is both sweet and sour with a hint of alcohol that dries but does not overwhelm. Not a drain pour, but definitely not worth the premium cost I paid for a 3 year old bottle (BB 10.01.2003). In retrospect I should have shared... didn’t realize it was so "rare".

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 omhper (15964) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 11, 2003
Bottled. Pale amber. Neutral aroma. Full bodied with clean, firm maltiness and a grassy bitter finish. Well balanced.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 8, 2003
Best By 10.01.2003 Thick golden liquid with a small lid of small off white bubbles that diminishes into just a few ugly big bubbles. Heavy sweet (near sickening) malt aroma. Heavy malt sweetness with flavors of lemon grass and light corn syrup. Some floral hops flavors seem to add to the sweetness. Light syrupy finish. At least it was fresher sample.
