COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imported to the US as Ekstra Castle Ale
Ingredients: Water, lager malt, corn, hops, carbonic acid (0,45-0,57%) and albumen.
The beer is strong and deep, but refreshing. Neither the alcohol nor the other ingredients exceed the beer norms. There is a perfect balance of taste which making this a most quenching Lihuanian beer. "Gubernijos ekstra" is the most bitter beer among the "Gubernija" beer lineup. 30 IBU.

Shame about the corn. A slight aroma of chamomile. A bit sweet towards the tip, and a bit bitter at the rear (of the tongue). A unique beer. It resembles Eastern European lagers, but my faith affirms top fermentation. Most eastern lagers go down my sink drain, but Ekstra will go down my personal plumbing. There is a tongue coating finish of sweet bitterness that redeems the otherwise characterlessness. I have no understanding how this could be a planned beer; the corn must have an important impact here. пробует хорошо!

500ml can kindly shared by djoeye. Pale golden body, slightly hazy. Bubbly, white head. Semi-sweet malty aroma. Mixed taste profile of toffee malts and grassy hops, mild spices as well. Distant bittersweet ending, semi-dry. Medium bodied. Fair enough (Tromsø 27.02.2014).

Aroma; toffee n grass. Low chalk white tight top, bright light golden and slightly unclear body, just a little lacings. Sweet toffee and malts to the tongue, hints of cinnamon, grass and straw, hints of crowberries. Finishes with bread, toffee, dark sweet bread. Ok beer, easy to drink, sweet but tasty enough. Mostly malty, quite fruity, banana, harsh unpleasant hops, grainy, bit honeyish with some medicine, cardboard. Sweetish with sharp bitterness. Unbalanced

Medium offwhite head. Clear coppery yellow body. Fruity oily papery aroma with sugary notes. Sweetish earthy papery sugary taste with fruity, herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish salty resiny strawy aftertaste with fruity herbal notes. Nice, drinkable, not great. (0.33l bottle, from Bamb Alyne, Vilnius. Called "Gubernija art drink series Ekstra. I’m pretty sure it’s the same beer.)

The head is medium, body is golden and clear. It smells sweet, less hoppy, bit aromatic. Taste is malty, sweet, unspectacular. 11/7/7/7/11/7

Can, from an ethnic food store in Scunthorpe. Faintly hazy lemon gold, moderate and lasting creamy white head and gentle condition. Some sweet honey notes and a slight peppery hoppiness in the nose, quite sweet in the mouth, some honeyed edges but with a background oxidized note and hints of esters creating unbalance, brief mineral chalkiness in the finish moving towards an estery finality.

Interesitng, soft, and sweet. Easy to drink, but nothing special, I would say it is a semi second class Lithuanian beer.
