Torrefacto (511) - Madrid, - JUN 19, 2013

This is really good. Beautiful looking beer. Aromas of anise, coconut, cream, chocolate, vanilla, coffee. Flavors are black coffee, wet dog, anise. Fizzy..kind of weird for a stout but still quality stuff here. Thanks Michaela for bringing this back for me from Spain. You’re a gem!

Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Lightly hazy red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy. Slightly sweet and airy dark malts. Little cream and a touch of dark fruits. Light coffee. Light finish. Well integrated.

Scopey (6239) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2014
Bottle at Chriso. It pours dark brown with a small biege head. The nose is sweet, cola, caramel, candied orange peel, earth, varnish and dirt. The taste is roasted malt, toast, sweet, treacle, cocoa, earth, cocoa, dirt and ash with a dry, roasty finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Pretty OK.

Pours thick and black liquid. Low sized brown head, good retention. Cooffee and nuts aroma. Creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Long, balanced finish, reminds me of nuts and black fruits. Taste is complex and excellently balanced; coofee, black chocolate, nuts, raisins.

Bottle, thnx to BRW, cheers. Pours a very dark, almost black beer with a big creamy beige head. Aroma of mocha, molasses, vanilla and caramel. Some coffee notes in there as well. Flavour is quite sweet and has coffee touches with sweet licorice influences. Very well balanced and not too overly sweet. Very nice beer and very promising for this brewery. Nice beer.

Bottle: Thanks Löwenbrau: Served in a Chouffe glass: Label mentions the ABV is 7.2: Deep dark brown pour. Medium sized beige foamy head with a light light brown tint to it. The body is black with a dark brown edge on the upper side of the glass. Aromas of roast, coffee, chocolate, some flowers, some liquorice wood, toffee, caramel, some barley malt roast and hints of brown sugars and mocha. The flavour is a good balanced mix of hops and some citrus with coffee, chocolate, roasted barley malts, hints of brown sugars, roast, bitters, liquorice and creamy yeast and barley malt tones. Very nice! Aftertaste of malts, toast, porridge, cream, leaves and some hay toast. Low carbo, soft creamy light oily texture, medium to full body and a thick creamy texture. Very nice beer, excellent balanced, easy drinkable and close to being complex.
