Looks like a stout, but the taste is all lager. Nothing special about this at all. Very disappointing.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Location: 11.2 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 12/5/11
Aroma: The nose is fairly light, with some roasted notes, toast/bread, and a hint of chocolate
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a fizzy light brown head, and some spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is light-medium sweet, somewhat roasty/toasty, with just a hint of bitterness
Palate: The body is light, it is a little bit too watery, with a tingly mouthfeel, and a fairly short duration
Alright, so I’ve seen enough commercials for this one to last me a lifetime. Well, I guess my expectations were a little to high here. It is pretty much just an adjunct watery attempt at a Schwazbier. At least I could tell what style they were going for, I’ll give them that.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the Int’l great Beer Expo. I expected not to like this beer. The aroma is smokey, roasty, burnt caramel. The appearance is lightly translucent brown, red hue. The flavor is just like the aroma, very enjoyable. The finish was sweet, with some piney hops. This was pretty good, and defied my expectations.

Pours a pitch black. Aroma is slightly malty. Not much to it. Flavor is just as light. Very meh.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Medium brown with a small off-white head. Light herbal aroma with a hint of roasted malt and semi-sweet chocolate shavings. Flavor is lightly roasted malts with a bit of sweetness, light herbal hops bitterness. The finish is quick and lightly bitter with an active carbonation and a slightly watery but dry, crisp feel on the palate. It’s really not that bad but nothing spectacular.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large creamy beige head that faded fairly quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was a bit skunky, sour, tangy and industrial. The flavor was bitter, tangy and industrial with a sour, corny and almost medicinal undertone. Medium finish, smooth body. Blah.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
bottle... dark brown with a medium tan head, decent one finger head lingers but it looks watery, no lace... the aroma is aroma, generic molasses syrup and wet dog, a bit of char tree bark, yum...the taste is equally bad, wet dog, very generic, just garbage

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz. bottle. Did not drink this "ice cold" or straight from the bottle. What’s the matter, Diageo? Afraid I might actually taste it or something? Anyway, on with the rating: Aroma of roasted malt with a hint of sourness, perhaps some lighter notes of chocolate and sulfur. Black in color with dark brown around the edges and a foamy, lasting, light tan head. Flavor profile is dry, roasty, lightly charred malts, with tinges of herbal hop flavor and a moderate amount of bitterness late, along with very faint touches of dark chocolate, smoke and again, that trademark Guinness sourness. Active, effervescent, dry and sharp on palate, no nitro widgets to be found here. Body is light-medium. Easy to quaff, for sure. Ultimately, about what I was expecting, which is why I only picked up the one bottle.
