2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not much going on with this beer. The jet black appearance and the relatively strong carbonation are the strongest features of this beer. Aroma is very thin. Appearance is black, obviously, with slightly reddish overtones. Taste is thin: very slight resin hops, slightly sweet caramel initial flavor, improving in amplitude within the mouth, with a slightly bitter finish. Not a bad beer, but definitely not a good one. Other schwarzbiers offer a lot more flavor than this one.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Caponeís. Pours thick jet black with tan head. Nose is like a hoppier regular Guinness. Tastes malty, with resiny hops, less malt character than regular Guinness, and a lackluster body. A disappointment that just might change the joke where Arthur Guinness, Pete Coors, and Augie Busch sit around discussing beers.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of really light chocolate, nuts, and a hint of grass. It pours a dark brown with some red highlights when held to the light. It has a two finger beige head that leaves behind some spotty webbing for lacing. The flavor starts with light chocolate and caramel. The finish has some light nuttiness, roast, and a hint of fruit. Itís light bodied with lively carbonation that borders on being prickly. Overall, itís sort of a Schwarzbeir-light. While thereís nothing offensive, there isnít exactly a lot to like about it either.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Black color. Tan head. Weak nose of malt and coffee. Flavor of toasty malts and coffee, but very weak and watery. Not the best black lager. Not as good as I expect from Guinness.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled. Poured dark brown with a tight cap of beige head. The aroma was really sweet with toasted black malts and vanilla. The flavor found artificially-sweetened toasty black malts, vanilla, and a pinch of cocoa.. aspartamey on the quick finish.. OK, but not by any means exciting. Lighter-bodied with prickly carbonation on the palate.. clean and calculated.. too sweet.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a beautiful black with a nose of coppery chocolate and a light caramel. Flavor is an upfront chocolate chip with a quick backwash of copper. Watery mouthfeel. Bleh.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Clear, dark brown with a small beige head. Light aroma of doughy malt and some cocoa. Flavor is mild and malty with some faint bitterness. Medium to light body with mild carbonation and a thin, watery mouth feel. Not too impressed with this, no major faults, just bland and watered down.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Wow cold brewed! thanks for telling me bottle. I apreciate Diageoís attempts to diversify to non traditional styles but the marketing on this was embarrasssing. Itís ok though.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Before I popped the top I read the label and these words food out, "Enjoy ice cold straight the bottle". I assume these words are for macro drinkers. Rather bland Schwarzbier more like a dark pale lager with a hint of roasted malts. Whatís next from Guinness, Black Ultra Lager?
