Bottle pours a dark brown almost black with a thin off white head. Scent is roasty with corn. Taste is roasty, grainy and earthy. Thin

Pours a very dark brown color, almost black but has a distinct reddish hue when held up do the light. The head is small but fairly well retained.

The aroma is nice and roasty rich and kind of chocolaty as I pour it from the bottle then whoops; where did it go? I was so happy about that aroma now I canít find it anywhere?

The flavor is very clean all around with only mild roasty notes, a little bit of chocolate. Whatís there is nice enough, but this is very low in flavor.

The plate is very thin & the finish is very quick.

Well, this one pretty well sets the bar for me as far as totally unremarkable but absolutely unoffensive goes.

Pitch black with a foamy but quickly dissipating tan head. On top of the roasted malts the aroma has a mild woody hint and the flavor is relatively dry an bitter. The blackest lager around. Not bad

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2012 Mild roasted maltiness in the aroma while the appearance is darker than most other black lagers. The flavor is of roasted malts and rather thin in body. Decent but could have been more flavorful.

Bottle from a sixer poured into a fluted pint glass. Dark brown pour with a foamy tan head that fizzes away quickly. Aroma is roasted malt, sweet grain, and lager yeast. Tastes like Guinness Lite. I wonít have a problem finishing the other five, but I wouldnít buy it again.

Curious little bottle attracted my attention when I wasnít really looking to buy beer. Iíve had a lot of Guinness over the years and while I donít drink it much anymore itís still got a special place... So anyhow this pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a creamy off white head that quickly dissipates to a cap. No widgets in here to release nitrogen and keep this head stable for an hour. Smells, yup it smells, just like a macro lager. Pilsner malt, grainy, grassy, corny. Thereís a faint and I mean faint aroma of roasted grains, but I would imagine most of the color from this thing came from sinamar. Taste follows the smell really well and ends with quite a dry finish. Light body, medium carbonation, thin watery mouthfeel. Maybe this would make a good gateway beer for someone, but for me this one was a let down. Nothing exciting here at all.

bottle at azwine 8/30/11. it appears to be pretty dark... bordering a dark porter colored blackish brown with a lasting tan head. there is a sweaty, dusty note in the aroma which reminds me of a bag of oats. also, i can smell, sulfur from the yeast, roasted barley, mild nutty coffee and milk chocolate with some vanillin in it. more of the same from the flavor only it is rather muted and watered down. the first few sips taste more like the glass than a beer. it is clean on the finish and leaves an aftertaste of roasted barley. the mouth feel is slick airy and soft at first. something happens to it as it sits because it ends up watery. so, the moral of that story is to chug it! there is nothing special about this. it tastes a lot like a guinness light would taste. it is not bad, just mediocre. 6/4/5/2.5/13/3

If you have had Guinness or Harp then you already know what you are getting here. Anyone expecting more will come away unimpressed. This is a light, carbonated lager with roasted malt. Is it a world beater, no. But if this was the low bar of beer then it would be 75% better than our current low bar. Pours a nice brown/black with a sparkly tan head. Watery and light with roasted notes and sparkling soda in minor amounts.
