A - Pours an opaque black body with 1.5 fingers of tan head that sinks into a cap of micro bubbles. S - Earthy yeast, wet cardboard, copper, sweet toasted grain. T - Dark malts, grassy hops, light molasses, spicy bite, hints of fruit, raisins, old coffee, finishes dry some spice. M - Light to medium body, moderate carbonation. Better than I expected. Easily sessionable. Alot of people will probably hate on this because its from Guinness but it’s actually not too bad for style. Serving type: bottle 10-18-2011

Expected dark color. Smell pretty decent, sweet malt. The taste is off however. Tastes cheap. It’s almost as if the essence of Guinness was mixed with the essence of rolling rock. If you are a Guinness fan, do yourself a favor and stick with the real thing

Black is appropriate as this beer is dark. Too dark, with a lack of bubbles/carbonation. Looks are deceiving as it smells like a light lager. Bland taste, ok finish.

This seems to be a very good variation of a common lager to me, as other comments say, it’s good alternative to drink a lager. Good aroma and appereance, very dark and apparently, full-bodied. Great taste for a lager, with some notes of coffee, chocolate and a little of caramel, it seems to be more like a light stout, but with a good ending, leaving a nice sensation in the mouth.

Bottle:   Cola in color, moderate to thin frothy light beige head, dies quickly leaving spotty lacing.   Soft roasty nose.   Thats pretty much where anything good stops.   On the tongue its very shallow, the roasty character is barely even toasty.   Seems thin, finishing with hardly anything.   This one is very very pale, and very very weak.   Fairly thin in body and on the tongue.   Watery backside.   Nothing off about this one, just weak and/or watered down to a point that its rather boring.

330 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a decent light mocha head. Aroma: Stark roasted malts, slightly tangy, metallic, lightly earthy, not great. Palate: Medium body, moderate carbonation, a bit astringent. Flav.: British dark-roasted malts, lightly grape-like, a touch tangy, tight; dry with limited bitterness and a rape-like, dark roasted malt finish.

Dark and boring.

11.2 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Dark brown, cola like, tan foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and yeast. Taste quite consistent mostly roasted malts and yeast. Nice and drinkable, good alternative over regular lagers, enjoyable.

I want to start by saying that I am a huge stout fan and I still really loved this beer even if its a lager tribute to one. It might have a prominent roasted aroma to it, it might not have the most pronounced head, it might not even be that lively on the palate. However, this is a smooth easy going beer with plenty of flavor and an interesting take on a lager.

rootbeer color to it, tan, small head. smells like roasted malt. tastes like roasted malt. not a very big body to it, but pleasant. I dont like the really dark roasted malt flavor in beer for the most part, no exception here. but this was ok and tolerable.
