Guinness Black Lager is kind of an odd duck. When beer pours near Coca-Cola black, one does not typically expect near Coca-Cola carbonation, as is the case with this one. Not an altogether bad thing, but sort of strange. As far as the balance of Guinness character and that of lager is concerned, flavor definitely lands in the latter territory, inasmuch as there is to speak of flavor at all in this beer. It is surprisingly devoid of appreciable nuance, really like if you took a bottled Guinness and mixed it with a light American lager 1:5 or so. A bit sweeter and more savory than a golden lager, it also fails to live up to the heartier expectations both the brand and coloration that this beer would typically inspire one to conjure. It is actually a bland offering, and for the lofty standards of its producers, I would consider this product to be a failure and one to skip, despite being at least drinkable and inoffensive.

Pours black, of course. Has a nice tan head and some lacing. The head retains pretty well...Aroma, the main thing I notice is coffee. Thereís some roasted malt in there. But itís more like drinking bottom of the pot coffee....Taste, still coffee, maybe some cocoa. The roasted malt comes through a little more in taste than in nose....Mouthfeel, yeah, itís pretty smooth, itís well balanced. Semi dry. Itís pretty heavy....Overall, itís not bad. It reminds me of a regular Guinesss, I guess you could call it a Guinness Light. Itís not what I would call sessionable.

Old rating. Pass. Dark clear body. Roast, char, and a strange metallic/sulfuric presence. Almost no reason to drink this.

Creamy, coffee and light chocolate in both aroma and flavor. Weak bitterness which fills the upper part of the mouth briefly. Okay beer with your meal. But enjoy it, you can not. Follow me @ Kung av Ųl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Dark roasted malt Appearance- Has a dark coffee color with a tan colored head. Taste- Strong flavor of roasted malt with a bitter flavor, nice Palate- A medium bodied brew with moderate carbonation, has a creamy to slight oily texture that goes well with the flavor. Overall- A nice Euro Dark Lager, I would order this if I saw it on a bar list.

This black lager is a heavy consistency but not appealing with food. It is, however, a beer is be okay drinking without any food. I'd still rank it only a bit above average overall. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle into pint glass. Pours a black colour with a very little off white head. Aroma is light roast and a touch of sulfur. Taste is roasted malts and a sulfury sweetness. I am assuming from the yeast. Decent black lager.

Bottle: Dark brown body with a light-khaki cap that fades quickly. Metallic aroma with toasted grains, roasted barley, a hint of dark malt, maybe some coffee? Kind of vague & light. Flavor is crisp, notes of roasted malt, mild ash, grains, & again some of that metallic twinge towards the back-end. Over carbonated. Pass.

Pours blank with a chocolate foam. Molasses aroma. Sweet molasses malty flavor immediately on the tongue. The sweetness grows with each taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Poured a good head that quickly died off. Dark brown in colour. Tastes of toasted malt and caramel. Very sweet. Mouth feel is thin. Like most Guinness beers, itís become a pale imitation of a real dark Lager. Kind of boring.
