11.2 fl oz bottle at Burger & Beer Joint, Miami Beach, FL. Sampled on January 22, 2012. Dark reddish brown to black color, huge lasting tan head. Sweet, cream, a bit roasted scent. Roasted, malty, cream taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium low bitterness. I’d drink it again given the chance.
1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 adnielsen (6187) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 8, 2011
Bottle @ home. Deep brown appearance with a light brown head. Roasty dark malty, grassy, hay aroma. Deeply roasty malty, light espresso, hay, straw flavor. Light bodied. Pretty gross. Fuck I made some bad choices on my mixer sixer tonight.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 DruncanVeasey (6114) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - SEP 17, 2012
Bottle from Lihue 7-11 drank at the house in Kaua’i, 27/08/12. Deep ruby with copper trim and an unconvincing cappuccino head. Admittedly slightly schwarzy aroma; rusted ashtray, pureed grilled veg gone through the coffee filter, incinerated paper, carob. Fag ash- sprinkled shredded wheat, rusted flavour with suggestions of Happy Shopper coffee granule, Bisto granule, more rusted iron, cheap dark chocolate...all heavily watered and stirred with a Twiglet, then a rusty nail. Thin and nasty...but it grows on you.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Dogbrick (6033) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 17, 2011
This brew pours black with some chestnut color around the edges. Medium thin tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Somewhat roasty aroma with notes of malt and chocolate. Light to medium body with a roasted malt character and flavors of mild hops and chocolate. The finish is short roasty malt. Seems like this beer is being marketed as a "less heavy Guinness" which is amusing. Simply average overall.
