2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Attractive red-brown pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, a little dark fruit, and vanilla. Very strong bitter, a little sourness. Rather biting, the only flavor that comes through is a little burnt coffee.

I guess these are two categories of beer that don’t mesh: guiness (or as I prefer to think of it "meal in a glass" and lager). It sort of ends up being the ’special’ cousin. The dark, sweet maltyness of the guinness is there, but is not really complemented by the lighter mouthfeel and high carbonation of this one. Was slightly better once it warmed up, but overall doesn’t really work. If it ain’t broke........

There’s basically no discernible reason to crank the lid off of one of these beers, but if you do, expect a thin, effervescent mouthfeel and some pulsating coffee undertones. The flavor isn’t going to tear your taste buds apart, but it’s a pleasant diversion and a decent lager.

Comes off as carbonated Guinness to me at first. If Guinness was a lager this is what it would taste like. Its got carbonation now, its a little less roasty, but its still got the milky creamy easy to drink goodness of guinness. I like it and I could drink it heavily all night without a problem I think. But it is pretty overpriced for what it is..Kinda like Guinness.

Unimpressive. No need for this beer other than to sell Guinness to people afraid of stouts.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2012 Thinly black beer with a beige head. Brown sugar, light roasted malts, a hint of fruit cake, and a whisper of caramel make up the aroma. It would be great, but it’s rather weak and diluted. The body is thin. The taste is bitter, with a dry finish and a pleasant but weak aftertaste of brown sugar. Pleasant, inoffensive, and manages to keep me from boredom.

Bottle. Black color. Tan head. Weak nose of malt and coffee. Flavor of toasty malts and coffee, but very weak and watery. Not the best black lager. Not as good as I expect from Guinness.
