Launched in 1961.

Great color and long lasting bitternes and sweetness follows afterward. Reliable favorite of mine. Subtle aroma with creamy head.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2011 Nearly always served too cold to smell of anything. Looks great, black/white, fits marketing perfectly. Tastes anonymous for a stout - quite creamy, faint hint of bitterness, no aftertaste. Drinkable enough, but the rating it gets on this site? Ludicrous.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2011 Almost no aroma. That and the relative weakness are the drawbacks to this mainstay. The taste is smooth, color is standard and the palate very nice.Just wish had more ABV

Pours black with a thick creamy head. There is no better head in all of beerdom. Aroma is light malt with slight coffee. Palate is very smooth and creamy. Taste is of malt and coffee with hop bitterness.

Can with widget. Taste is smooth and malty, with great mouthfeel. Can a beer be overrated and underrated at the same time? There are better stouts these days, but I have to give Guinness props for introducing me to good beer many years ago.

On tap. Black with a good sized creamy pale head that leaves behind some lacing. Aroma is malt, soy sauce, coffee. Taste is bitter hops with hints of malt, coffee, chocolate. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, reasonably thin on the palate with a bitter finish.
