3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 boxofrane (205) - pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 15, 2011
Tap. Classic Brew. Not the best in the world for its type but a good beer, widely available, and highly enjoyable. No need to get into details b/c everyone has had it.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 ABS (143) - NORWAY - OCT 13, 2011
Pours clouded light brown, ends up black with about one and a half inch of white head - you all know this. Very little carbonation. Ok mouthfeel, bordering watery. Roasted malt aroma.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Marheb (425) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 9, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2012 Bien sûr elle est magnifique...Mais si on la laisse être elle même, on découvre une bière très mince qui fini par goûter le carton.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 ken1 (146) - DENMARK - OCT 7, 2011
Tab in pub in London. Looks can be deceiving. This looks like a beer with a lot of taste, but disapoints.
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 YoungGunn (20) - Dublin, IRELAND - OCT 7, 2011
This beer, however it’s experienced(sure in draught cans the odd one can be dodgey), is a classic. I think most people can remember having their first Guinness, but it’s what makes you come back that’s the beautiful thing. The taste is perfectly balanced between body, flavour and alcohol percentage. Not so high in alcohol that it becomes a penance to drink, like say, an Innis and Gunn may burn the back of the mouth, letting the coffee bitterness come through. The body is also a little below full, with a tiny bit of wateriness in that thickness, to give a bit more drinkability.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 seymour (608) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Tasted on tap in standard pint glass at Olympia restaurant, St Louis, Missouri, USA. Opaque black color with large, long-lasting, creamy tan foam. Tastes of heavy fresh-baked bread. Roasty and smooth with an ever-so-slight acidic sourness. Not at all harsh, but light lager drinkers may say so. Medium carbonation. Well-balanced English hop bitterness and aroma. Subtle fruitiness from ale fermentation. Full-bodied mouthfeel with hints of chocolate and coffee with cream. A sweet beer with a surprisingly dry finish due to the unmalted, flaked and roasted barley. This is one of my favorite beers: yesterday, today and forever.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 andregoncalves (196) - Lisbon, PORTUGAL - OCT 3, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 2, 2011 Draft in Irish&Co, Lisbon. A classic. Beautiful head. Lovely taste and palate, but it also depends a lot on how well it is served.
