PeterGH (1), Manitoba, Canada does not count Jun 8, 2009 Pint, excellent appearance, complex palate; coffee, chocolate, etc. Thick creamy head. DuffManSW (283), Riverside, California, USA Jun 7, 2009 Pours black with a red tint. Creamy eggshell colored head. Very pretty beer.. Smell is slightly roast with a little sweetness.. Taste is roasted malts and coffee dryness..The fact that it was super freakin thin threw me off. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 6, 2009 Another 20 minute lunch drinkoff special. Guiness is almost always great and never dissapoints unless the local hole hasn’t cleaned thier lines. Dark dark dark brown and thick tan head that appears so smooth it’s almost unnatural. Good pour today! The whole backside of the glass from top to bottom had a solid coating of guinness goo upon completion. Always produces one if not the best lacing around. Not to much to say about taste and smell becuase Guinness is pretty straight forward. Aroma: mild, slight coffee, malts, molassas. Taste: cardboard (? first thing!!) bitter coffee, biscuty and dry. With a good pour and a fresh keg, mouthfeel is always velvety smooth, medium bodied and has a dry and bitter finish. The dozen or so sober Irish people can’t be wrong. derkaiser (24), Ohio, USA Jun 3, 2009 One of the most beautiful beers in glass, but its taste is highly overrated. I do like it, but it seems to lack the consistency of other beers, the conditions need to be just right for Guinness to taste great. Overall its good, but does not live up to its hype. Cirrhosis (610), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 2, 2009 This was the first stout I ever tried and the only for a very long time, and to me its what I compare all others to. This is truly one of the best looking beers there is blacker then black and a thick creamy head. It has very little aroma but what can be smelt is coffee, the mouth feel is a bit light for a stout and very goes down smooth. I like the fact that the taste isn’t over powering like some stouts its just the right balance of bitterness and flavor that makes very drinkable. There are better and higher quality stouts but you just can’t go wrong with this one. McGarnigle (303), Rochester, New York, USA May 29, 2009 I think my first time drinking this out of a Nitro can, so I thought I’d rate it. Attractive black can. Serve extra cold, it says. It also lists the calorie count based on 12 ounces (it’s a 16 ounce can). Nice aroma. The cascading pour is worth the price of admission, but I don’t think nitro cans accurately mimic draft texture. Taste is thin with slight roast. Dry. Better on tap, though even then it’s not my fave. GreenDean35 (5), Spearfish, South Dakota, USA does not count May 25, 2009 I think there’s nothing quite as lovely as the cascading, dark brown head on a freshly poured pint of Guinness. The flavor only enhances the experience - rich, deep flavors, somewhat bitter, somewhat sweet, and it simply coats your mouth.
God Bless Arthur Guinness!
