Very much not my favorite stout. Can’t see why so many people love this beer. To me it’s very watery mostly. There are hints of chocolate, roasty malts and coffee, but they just don’t come through. It’s like a cup of old coffee mixed with a pint of water.

I sincerely admire anyone who can finish a whole bottle/can/glass of this unpleasant excuse for a beer. If there is anything as bad as British beer or worse, it must be Irish beer, and particularly this one.

Pours black with the typical nitro head. Nose shows caramel and butterscotch. Not much roasty character. Faint earthy hops. Similar flavours but more roasty. Still, very sweet. Body feels watery but with the nitro creaminess. Possibly the stout with the least roasted character I’ve ever tried.

Pours dark with veils of light escaping through the sides wuth a full thick creamy head and heavy sheets of lace. Smells of mild roasted malts and a hint of coffee. The mouthfeel is very thin with thin flavors of roast and coffee. The finish is short and simple not offering much complexity.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2011 Nothing looks better than a pint of guinness. It’s smooth and instantly recognisable. The nose is mild but leads to a metallic, smooth yet enjoyable burnt metallic taste. In my opinion it’s not as good as people make out but I do agree it’s a very enjoyable iconic drink. The above is my review from outside of Dublin. In Dublin it’s smoother and cleaner and creamier. There is NO metallic taste ( could be the pasturisation of the export) and it is exceptionally smooth. The rating has been updated and upgraded.

Test vom 29.12.2005, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 15,10,12,9,-,9 - 10,26

Poured from a 440ml can great looking beer, black with rudy tinge when held to light and nice dark tan head. Aroma is very mild and of coffee bitterness. Taste is the same as the aroma with a slight sweetness and lingering bitter finish. Mouthfeel is very light and watery. Overall a fairly dissappointing brew. it failed to fulfil our hopes and expectations, very overrated. harko, halsey
