JediMindTricks (240), Hampton, Virginia, USA Mar 23, 2009 it is what it is...................................................................................................................... Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Mar 22, 2009 11.2oz bottle with a fancy widget. Very dark, but not pitch black, I could see a little light coming through the middle of the glass. Very nice creamy tan head. Slight chocolate roastiness smell. Light bitter flavor, a little roasty, very smooth and easy to drink. At one point in my life this used to be too much to handle flavor wise, glad my palate has matured a bit. RHeastings (380), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 22, 2009 Enjoyed on various occasions in various ways, but I’ve never rated it until today. Pours a jet black with a creamy, and seemingly ever-lasting, head. Notes of roasted barley, chocolate, and perhaps black patent malt greet the nose. Exceedingly smooth on the palate, leading many the drinker to think it is "flat" or "still." Again, roasted notes come through. Finishes clean and smooth, leaving the drinker ready for another taste. Little wonder that this is still the prototype example of dry stout, and still likely the world’s best. mattvervack (20), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Mar 21, 2009 Is this what I was drinking? I was in Taco Mac, it is their beer of the month... March 17th, Virginia Highlands. All it says is Guinness, not extra or draught. But it was on tap. It was like drinking lager only it was black. As a lager I would have rated it higher, maybe average. But this is supposed to be stout. It most definitely is NOT a stout. Blah! cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 20, 2009 Not much aroma but the nitro gives it a gorgeous appearance and nice cream head. Pretty bland with some hint of malt. Goes down smooth with a clean finish. branspra (204), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very dark black color that takes some time to settle. Head is very dense, off white with solid foam. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, and a hint of brown sugar. Mouthfeel is creamy, then thick, then back to creamy. Taste is actually very smooth with some roasted malts strong initially then followed by a nice light hop taste. Great beer. Nordcore (266), North of, Norway Mar 19, 2009 Tapped. Apperance; black with a big lightbrown head, last all the way. Aroma, not to much, mabye because of all the head that last?? Some roasted malt and coffeee? Flavor; Coffee, vanilla and chocolate.full body, Not my favouritte stout.
