IPAaLLtHEwAY (136), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Feb 15, 2009 I am not actually leaving a comment, this is me opting out of that. However there are a minimum number of characters i must type so... You should all worship heavy metal! wyzzywyz22 (754), Wirral, Merseyside, England Feb 15, 2009 Harbour Bar, Portrush, Northern Ireland.
I remember drinking a pint of Guinness 20 years ago in Dublin and thinking it was the most wonderful thing to have ever passed my lips. Having guzzled vats of the stuff over the years, I held the belief for a long time that the Guinness you got in Ireland was far superior than what was served up in England, leaving much better lace and having a wonderfully creamy virtually white head. Now, however after drinking quite a bit of it (due to the almost complete dearth of anything else drinkable) in the Republic and Ulster in the last week or so I’m not entirely sure there is a big difference any more. A good pint of Guinness can still be a wonderful thing, but as time goes by it seems to be an ever more elusive thing sadly due to a palpable dip in quality. givemebeeer (5), erlangar, Kentucky, USA does not count Feb 14, 2009 not my favorite beer in the world but hell. cant go wrong with a nice pint with a hearty meal. kinda creamy. can really taste roasted barley. kind of a coffee aftertaste. BroSpud (586), , Massachusetts, USA Feb 9, 2009 Updated: Oct 23, 2009I have always loved me a pint (or more) of Guinness. It always satisfies, it’s always good. At home I drink the cans and it is truly a miracle how good it can still taste. The "widget" is a wonderful thing. Yes, I have tasted better beers and more specifically better stouts but for my money Guinness is a classic that I will always sing the praises of.
10-23-09: Despite my love for this classic I could no longer justify keeping it scored higher than some of the other great ones out there and had to bump this down a bit. njbfr (105), New Jersey, USA Feb 4, 2009 Not great, not bad. The pour is the best part. Malt flavor is fairly bland. lordmeat (12), Aransas Pass, Texas, USA Feb 4, 2009 Wonderful beer. Pours like a waterfall of living God juice. After poured, the phrase "It’s Alive Inside" comes to truth as the creamy head slowly makes it’s way to the top, giving a show of beautiful colors and aromas. Tastes rich and roasted with a finish of cream. Rodders (114), Norwich, Norfolk, England Feb 4, 2009 Updated: Feb 22, 2009(Pint at the Cock Inn, Diss) Black with a ruby tinge and a creamy white head that lasted the whole drink, but actually got more murky in colour as it went on. Creamy smell with a hint of nutmeg, coffee and chocolate, but only light hints. Not particularly breathtaking too be honest. Tasted thick creamy (suprise) with a sweet start and a coffee nutty bittery finish. Tasted like guinness to be honest, which is not bad but oh so mellow compared to other stouts and porters I’ve had.
(Can) This is a lot worse than the actual draught version, it may have been a bad can but it was watery, boring, and a little off tasting. Not very nice. The only good thing was the appearance, which is a novelty really. thornecb (1737), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Feb 3, 2009 Pours with a cascading head that beautifully waterfalls to turn deep mahogany and produces a creamy off-white micro head with excellent retention. Caramel malt aromas. Roasted creamy malt upfront turning thin with a distinctive sour sweet hop finish.
