Aroma is roasty malt, licorice, bread. Appearance is dark brown almost black, small light tan head. Not nitro. Taste is smooth and complex. Roast forward, light hops bitterness, chocolate, bread, light caramel sweetness, creamy, minerally. Palate is medium- and very crisp. Not a thick beer. Smooth and mild pleasant flavor left behind. Overall a very nice session beer. Well rounded for such a low alcohol content.

500ml can containing the nitro widget (and also beer). This is my first Guiness and I was a bit disappointed to tell the truth. Pours beatuifully, dark dark, offwhite fluffy head that persists. Aroma of roasted caramel, some coffee-ness. Very thin in the mouth with soft carbonation. Lightly sweet with a bitter finish. Tastes is roasted caramel with dark coffee-ish, dark chocolate-y finish, but more flavour is desired as it seems quite weak.

11.2 oz bottle into English pint. The label says to drink straight from the bottle, but how can you rate the appearance and aroma from a bottle? Hopefully pouring into a glass doesn’t depreciate it. Pours dark brown to black with reddish tints with a light beige medium head; leaves creamy lace. Doesn’t produce the cool nitrogen visuals provided by the cans of this stuff. Aroma is bready, roasted malt. Taste is bittersweet. Carbonation is light, but at least there’s some present. I was expecting something like the Murphy’s or Boddington’s widget cans, which have no carbonation at all. Alright, but give me an Extra or Foreign Extra over this anytime.

this one needs no introduccccciun. It is awesome. Really easy to drink. Like a close friend in beer-version. Like your first girlfriend (almost true since it was your first stout unless you work for green peace and have a complex personality). Taste is wellbalanced. Very thick and fresh, with a coffieness to it. Sessionbeer and should be drunk from tap. Also: The best head around.

The mother of all dry stouts. Love the way the bartender makes a little shamrock in the foam.

Black beer with a fine and rather stable cappuccino foam. Roasted and sweet malt nose with hints of liquorice and cold thin grandma coffee. Velvety mouth feel, quite dry, extremely drinkable beer. A bit thin in flavor, with smooth roasted malt, a little rye-bread, coffee and medium bitter hop undertones. A classic Irish stout, very easy to drink, preferably in big gulps, and as such not easy to dismiss.

what else can be said? This is the classic stout - rich, creamy. Surprising non-filling. Creamy head, roasted malt aroma. Dry, almost burnt flavor with hints of chocolate, coffee. Long finish. I’m not reporting anything new, but I always enjoy a good Guinness Draught.
