ilherps (212), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Oct 30, 2008 This is a nice dry stout. Not too much to be said that hasn’t been said about a beer with this distribution. Malty, with chocolate and coffee flavors. Not much hop presence.
very good for the style, pour a black and tan along with some bass and you will not be disappointed. walkerrosewood (8), , New York, USA does not count Oct 29, 2008 can’t say anything that hasn’t been said before about Guinness. I had been told that beer, like coffee, was an acquired taste. So I decided I would acquire it. I didn’t know much about beer, but it seems many think Guinness is the best, so that’s where I started, and I’ve never looked back. An all time fav. Hbuck72 (122), Chickasha, Oklahoma, USA Oct 29, 2008 This seems to be the iconic premium beer that you can get pretty much anywhere.
With the creamy head it looks like coffee with whipped cream on top.
The taste is very coffee like in nature, thanks to the dark roasted malt.
Overall it is a good beer, the taste is not overpowering, and it has a good mouthfeel given its creamy texture. Irenfrea (10), , Argentina Oct 29, 2008 It’s my first love. I fell in love of Guinness because of the creamy foam, the stong taste, the feeling in your mouth and throat... terrybail (331), London, Ontario, Canada Oct 28, 2008 12oz bottle from the beer store

I have misplaced my comments for this beer sward84 (24), Burke, Virginia, USA Oct 27, 2008 This is probably....if not absoutely......my favorate beer......who can resist the dark amber red and the smooth creamy head....just be careful that you pour it right...it’s not like most beers you pour straight into the glass. I’m having myself a pint now as I’m typing this masonjer (562), Holt, Michigan, USA Oct 27, 2008 Ok, it’s guinness. This beer is super clean and smooth but has hardly any flavor. Definitely easy drinking. One thing I would say, my buddy brought back cans from St. James Gate, which we compared to American Draft cans and there was a definite difference. Not crazy, but more bitterness and stronger flavor in the St. James Gate version. The cans were taller as well. Not sure if it deserves it’s own rating, but there is a difference. mattmc1973 (301), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Oct 26, 2008 On draught at Shores Inn in St. Clair Shores. Have had this a million times, but have never gotten around to rating it. Pours dark brown/black with big creamy tan head. Aroma not very strong, of roasted malt and a tinge of coffee. Taste of burnt/roasted malt, coffee, mild hops. Mouthfeel creamy yet finishes a bit watery. An OK stout, and a good gateway back in the day, to open the door to other stouts. A stepping stone to more adventurous stuff.
