Biggs88 (14), Philadelphia, USA Oct 10, 2009 Updated: Oct 13, 2009While in Ireland, I had my first Guinness. I was not very impressed. However. . . . . . . . . . . . This beer is a global Icon. For that, there is a respect this beer must have. Every once and a while I will have one or four at an irish bar. Not for the quality, just for the hell of it.
The use of NO2 adds points to this beer for two reasons. One: the pour. This beer does not mind to put on a quick show for the consumer. Two: the mouth feel. The NO2 causes this beer to feel like slik flowing down your throat. Very nice. This beer lacks in the aroma and taste departments. Aroma is very old world, dirty, musky. The flavor is very watery and murky. This is a basic brew, so one can not expect big undertones. But to get nothing but pale malt and barley can be a bit of a let down. However, this beer is not about blowing you away with flavor. It is what it is. Basic and simple. Once you take that into consideration, you may enjoy drinking it every now and then even tho the beer may not taste great to you. flatmatt (221), Northville, Michigan, USA Oct 9, 2009 On tap. Pours dark red brown with a light tan head, lots of bubbles extending beneath the head. Weak generic malt aroma. Flavor is just as weak, with brown sugar, roasted malts, and dark fruit. Just too weak in all aspects. ryancaa (4), North Dakota, USA does not count Oct 9, 2009 more than likely the most recognizable beer in the world. a 250 year old beer that has gotten better ever year that it has been brewed. tastes great, smells great. the falling foam is probably the best sight you will ever see in a beer. Hermod (245), Vantaa, Finland Oct 8, 2009 Tap. Pours black, white head. Smooth taste of coffee, chocolate, very creamy. dry finish. Very enjoyable. DrSamPHD (60), Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA Oct 6, 2009 Pours a pitch black with the signature creamy white Guinness head. The aroma is sweet, with a hint of vanilla and roasted malt. The flavor is of roasted malt, with a slight kick of coffee and sweetness. Very thin body, too thin. Yay Guinness, amiright?! jmulv (82), Rensselaer, New York, USA Oct 5, 2009 A true classic right here. It looks incredible out of the tap. Dark dark brown color with a swirling lighter shade going into a nice thick head. Taste is extremely dry, very smooth. Overall, just an excellent beer, you really can’t go wrong with this guy. voiceofreason (44), New Jersey, USA Oct 2, 2009 Leather jacket, wintry night, brown bag, the streets of NYC.
Coupled with a fine stew... Snot19kilo (81), Oakwood, Illinois, USA Oct 2, 2009 14.9 oz can. Everyone has had this beer so i’m just going to say it has a very watery finish. not as bad from the can. It’s a weak stout. Black no real aroma and a slight coffee slight chocolate taste. but everything is still watered down. not as bad as murphy’s but close. I only drink this if i go out to eat and it’s the only dark beer they have.
