3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The beer that introduced me to stout. No appearence more beautiful. It is not that complex, but it is creamy, smooth, and slightly roasted tasting. Will continue to drink over the other Irish stouts I've tried.

3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
One of my favorite all-time stouts. Thick and creamy glass of coffee colored richness. Great beer to complement a Quiznos sub

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
I can say this is one of my favorite beers, especially when it is the fall or winter seasons. It warms the body so well, dark color, light head, coffee after taste and just a great bitter taste. Love the widget too, just to hear it when you open a can at home is great.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 25, 2004 Great great great beer. Lacks complexity, but still one of the most unique beers I have been exposed to and holds a special place in my stomach. One of my favorites. The can stout version is much better than the bottle.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Widget Can. Roasty aroma with some creamy earthiness. Weak body with roasty bitterness. Suprisingly little complexity and lack of depth.

What can I say about Guinness? It's a great beer if you like 'em strong. Or if you're Irish!

For sure a dry stout. A very doable beer if your out and about, but a middle tier stout at best

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle with widget. I violated bottle instructions- poured it into a glass and sat back to watch the show. The cascade took over a minute to complete, resulting in the classic putty head floating on a body as oily and dark as being lost in the woods at midnight. The layers are as sharply defined as an Oreo cookie. One of the most visually appealing beers ever. Nose of roasty espresso and whipped cream, with a smokey edge to it. Similar in flavor, but the coffee and unsweetened chocolate elements are almost hidden. Follows up with a tangy character and a bitter hop bite. Not complex, but satisfying. Feels like velvet on the tongue. Glorious lacing coats the glass like a veil. Aftertaste is a mellow, roasty bitterness. Nearly an hour after I finished, a half inch of creamy foam remained in the glass. This is the classic Irish Dry Stout, so don't diss it for not being an in-your-face imperial or double chocolate.
