Classic beer. Very smooth and creamy, very little aroma. Looks great... Black with a thick headM. Relaible choice.

"No other grains or sugars" rather says it all. Although this stout is the very poster child for the classic look, feel, and even aroma of a traditional European dark brew, Guinness’ patently unsatisfying taste has devotees turning elsewhere. The good: ultimate color, a perfect foaming head, and a rich, dark, balanced and fragrant assortment of finishing agents - well-selected hops and roasted barley. The bad: a thin, weak, watery base. The ’bad’ wins out . . . this brew is a better decoration than a satisfying libation.

Dark, really good thick head. Tons of roasty and chocolate aroma. Taste is roasted malt with a sharp, dark chocolate bite to it in the finish. Everything about this one is more intense than the Guinness Extra Stout I just had - yes, that means it’s better. I hope my "score" reflects that.

Had to get to it sometime right? Pours as pretty as ever with it’s signature one finger creamy beige head. The nose Is fairly muted, just a little weak roast and light coffee. The flavor is much weaker than I remember it. It’s probably been 5 years since my last visit with this on tap. Still as smooth as ever, and there’s some decent dry roasty notes up front, but it just finishes a little too watery. Smooth and light bodied on the tongue with the usual nitro feel. It’s still a good bit better than the usual BMC crap that usually fills the taps next to it, but not something I’d pick at a craft-focused place.

Draught at The Westbourne, Hove - 16/10/10. Lovely looking pint. Burnt oats in the nose - not much to add to the comments below though!

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2011 Draught @Donegal Pub (Rome). Deep brown/black color, thin but persistent foam, very creamy. Flavour of roasted malt, caramel and coffee. A little bit winey and creamy. The taste is inconsistent. It seems always watered-down. Tiring. Definitely overrated.

12oz on tap poured black with off-white thick head. Full creamy body with a dry finish. My favorite session beer
