First of all, it’s gorgeous. Pitch black with wonderful, wonderful creamy foamy head. Next impressions? Well, it’s mighty dry, especially for something so dark. Aromas? Roasty. Roasty. Roasty. And water. It’s a one trick pony, but it’s just so...pleasant! Very easy to drink (and drink quickly!), probably because its not too carbonated.

Big fan of the darker beers (porters in particular, but this one was good).

I was thrilled to find that they sell a canned version of Guinness at Whole Foods now. I haven’t bought the inferior foreign-brewed version for years now. Beautiful cascading pour as it forms the off-white head. Muted nitrogen nose with a hint of chocolate. The palate tastes mostly of fresh spring water with steely bitterness and a hint of mocha. An absolute classic.

Most overrated beer in the world? I submit yes. Yeah its the smoothest and creamiest texture of any beer ever, and it’s head and roastiness is world renouned. But if youre going to label it as a stout, give it some FLAVOR! Its so watered down and light-bodied that it would be more fitting to call it a black lager. Stouts, even porters, are supposed to burst with flavor, while this one is as weak and mild as your grandma’s preferred blend of tea. The little flavor that is there is okay at best--roasted malt with a sweet finish.

Draught at O’Malleys, Vaasa. Pitch black color with thick creamy head. Roasty coffeish aroma. Dry roasty, coffeish and bitter flavor. Smooth palate, light body. Not a complex beer but still very enjoyable. This is a beer to be consumed in quatities when refreshment and nourishment is needed. Probably best mega brewery beer and seems to be always in good condition.

I’m not real sure why it is people like Guinness. There isn’t much special about it aside from the fact it is brewed in Dublin. There is barely any taste to this beer where there should really be a lot going on. Stouts should burst with flavor but Guinness does nothing of the sort. I felt like I was drinking a heavy black water. As much as I want to like this beer, I just cannot do it. Sorry Ireland.

I’m probably about to start a war against myself with this review, but I do not like Guinness. I ordered it for the first time at a club and had it straight from the bottle (which was probably a mistake) and I could not get past the first two sips. I had to trade it for a miller lite (yes, I really did think it was that bad). For me, it tastes like chocolate milk with alcohol. I don’t see the difference in Guinness and just chugging a bottle of Bailey’s Irish cream. It’s a good looking beer, and I love the fact that the head will pretty much never go down. I can appreiate the quality of the beer, but I just cannot drink a Guinness.
