Finally got around to rating this beer. While not as flavorful as some of its peers, it still hits the spot every time.

While, the most beloved of Irish beers, at least in the United States, and has the reputation of being THE stout, the flavors have become more akin to other macrobrews. While still a good stout, it doesn’t hold up to many new microbrew stouts on the market, but still leads the line in smoothness and includes their patented widget.

Wow. That there is the purdy-est beer I ever seen! Thick tan head that lasts till the very end and the body is black as night.Smells of coffee and caramel malts. A tad smokey. The taste is way weaker than the appearence would suggest. What you do taste is not that great. Watery with some decent roasted malt. A mellow beer that can be fairly easy to drink. I guess the low ABV makes it so that you can toss back a bunch of them, but really...I’d rather not.

Can. Pours a creamy looking black with a nice foamy head that has no identifiable bubbles. It almost looks fake in the glass, like those fake samples of desserts at restaurants-only beer. The aroma is slightly roasted and the taste is actually very neutral with a watery taste. The mouthfeel is extremely thin and watery and is probably the worst mouthfeel of any kind of stout I’ve had. I still can not believe how thin and watery this is and so neutral tasting but that does make sense because it is a stout that the BMC crowd embraces.

Arguably one of the best beers that is so widely distributed. Neat widget inside can that helps maintain creamy head. Not as dark as most people would think, good taste.

From the can. Pours cloudy, then slowly goes black in the glorious display you all know. Keeps about a half inch of thick creamy head. Smells chocolatey and malty. But alas, a very thin body for a stout then leaves me fairly dissapointed. Much better from the tap.

Another in the category of "I didn’t realize I didn’t rate this". Served on tap at the Field downtown. The appearance is a rich black with a creamy tan head complete with the shamrock. Always appealing to the eye. The flavors are dry, roasted malts, creamy milk characteristics, and touches of chocolate dusting. The mouth is very creamy yet drying. Always a tasty beer and readily available.

Can. 0,44 l. Pours the expected thick black brew with a nice thick creamy head. Smells like newly baked bread and chocolate. Caramel/bread aroma with a nice touch of coffee. Kinda woody/smoky. Very smooth, slightly sour.
