Todeon (314), Sweden May 9, 2008 Pint. Arooma is a bit chocolat and roasted barley dominated. Taste is really creamy and smooth, much better on draft than bottle. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA May 6, 2008 Pint at Irish pub - Aroma is hard to come by in this busy pub with the doors open. I do detect roasted barley and a touch of dry chocolate. Gotta give it a 5 for appearance. Flavor is roasted barley and dark malts with a hint of chocolate and coffee. Palate is dry and very smooth. Not the greatest thing in the world, but good enough for me to drink when nothing but BMC is available. Droptank (79), Spring, Texas, USA May 6, 2008 Very dark and creamy. I could detect a hint of chocolate and coffee. I have to say I tried Guiness years ago and did not like it. After a bit of dabbling in the craft brews, I can now appreciate it in all its complex beauty. Beautiful combination of bitter and sweet to reach a neutral balance of flavor. Well crafted and articulately made. janir (215), Oulu, Finland May 6, 2008 Very deep and dark reddish brown color. Thick head is light brown, creamy and lacy. Sweet and smooth caramel and roasty malty aroma. Roasty malty flavor kind of sweet but changes to dry aftertaste which is slightly bitter. Light to Medium-bodied and very smooth, oily palate is a bit watery in the end. cellar (484), Dublin, Ireland May 5, 2008 At Mulligan Pub in Dublin, the pub for Guinness. A beautiful beer, white air bubbles settles and developes a completely black beer with a fantastic long lasting creamy white head, suits the mustache, light notes of liquorous, coffee, chocolate and cought medicine. Low carbon. Bitter and sweet in good balance. Soft and creamy, perfect mouth feel. A little metalic aftertaste.. Need power to be really good. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 4, 2008 pitch black with thick tan head. nitrogenated adds a nice mouthfeel. flavor is only appreciated near room temperature wtih hints of roasted malt and a very dry finish. a very good beer at the right temp unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA May 3, 2008 4 beer sampler at OLd Chicago Very dark, with huge, creamy head that lingers like it should for a stout. Aroma of malts Full-bodied, very little carbonation. Flavor is very malty, taste of subtle caramel and chocolate. I prefer the draft, must be served very cold. Great to make black and tans with. I need to be in the mood for Guinness, but it is a very good beer
