BeerBaron617 (306), Novi, Michigan, USA Apr 17, 2008 This was my favorite beer for a long time, more or less because of it’s heritage. A little over a year ago I discovered the wonder that is craft brewing, and as a result have raised my standards for good beer. But nonetheless a fantastically crafted beer, with a wonderful history. weezfour (122), Oradell, New Jersey, USA Apr 14, 2008 Like no other. Was lucky enough to have a pint at the brewery, at 10am. Have to say it never tasted so sweet. Full, rich, creamy cascading head. Black as night. Overflowing with flavor, surprisingly smooth and easy to drink. Don’t believe the hype! Its not bread! Love it. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA Apr 13, 2008 Bottle. Deep black with a thin, creamy head that lingers. Aroma of yeast and toasted malt. Very yeasty bread taste, with hints of coffee and chocolate. Very dry, mild lingering bitter malt taste. Drinkable, but not particularly interesting. tagz (334), USA Apr 12, 2008 bottle. pours black with a creamy one finger head. head coats glass as you drink. nice roasty aroma. body starts moderately thick but finishes watery. flavor is bittersweet with roasted grains, and noticeable dry. has a sour edge that just isn’t my bag. in all a decent drink, and while the flavor is nice, the watery palate and tart finish drag it down a bit for me. ComradeK (65), Australia Apr 12, 2008 Updated: Jul 10, 2009The classic stout. Irish, which does give it bonus points. Strong, grainy flavour. As a song I once heard says, "it’s like drinking bread." Not necessarily a bad thing, but I wouldn’t drink it on a hot day if I were looking for refreshment. Still, a very nice beer indeed. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 11, 2008 I’ve taken a complete 360 when it comes to Guinness in general. What can I say? I like it. Pours a black color, thick tanish head and an overall very appealing beer. This beer is unbelievably smooth and flavorful with a mild coffee flavor with hints of malt. It’s tasty, smooth and enjoyable all together. Good in the bottle too RONCOD (104), Uledi, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 11, 2008 This beer pours a very dark brown / black color with a foamy tan head. I usually like dark beer, but this was a little too dry and bitter for my taste. MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Apr 10, 2008 [can] Pours very dark brown with a somewhat small very creamy nitrogen head. Not much for an aroma. Flavor is quite dry, with a little bit of roastiness and some cocoa. Finishes with a little tang that lingers long after the last sip. Very drinkable.
