3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Alexus (77) - Stavanger, NORWAY - DEC 1, 2011
A regular dry stout. Guinness is the big boy in the marked. A nice session ale, but when served cold a lot of the aromas and taste is concealed. I use to warm the pint between my hands or 5 min before drinking. I think this is a common thing in Norway. Ales are served way too cold. But off course, the signature Guinness head is always present.

Drinking a Guinness is an experience; waiting for it to settle is filled with anticipation. There is a great balances between subtle bitterness and full body; all in what you could easilty call a light beer.

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2012 33cl. bottle. It pours an unclear almost pitch black liquid with a medium-high pillowy and creamy head and a very nice lacing. Nice roasted aroma and taste. A little watery. Medium-full bodied. Classic dry stout.

Not much on the nose. A beautiful black/very dark red pint with the customary half incg creamy white head. Creamy, mildy bitter with a hint of coffee. A whisp of smokiness. Served in the gravity bar in the Guinness factory, Dublin. The best pint of Guinness ever.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 rangerred (204) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - NOV 26, 2011
Served from nitro tap.
Arrived with a nice creamy 2 finger head. Appearance was pitch black.
The smell was not too apparent but there are hints of roasted malt and some coffee.
Taste had the typical sourness expected from guinness along with roasted malt. Some coffee notes sneaking in there as well along with a slight smokiness.
Mouthfeel was typical of nitro beers; creamy with very little carbonation.
I have always liked this beer and still think it is pretty decent. There are better Irish stouts out there but I will always come back to this one.

I would rate this beer a 25/20 overall if I could. This beer’s reputation preceeds it and the beer delivers. It’s pour can only be described as magical, it is fun to watch! The head defines the word "creamy". The taste is unparalleled. This could be the Eighth Wonder of the World.

Rich black color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, & some coffee; Flavor of roasted malt, caramel, hops, coffee, and light chocolate; Finish is slightly bitter; The store bought draught I drank was pretty watered down - this is not how I remember it (which is usually delicious); If you get a fresh draught from a good tap then Guinness is as advertised.
