UPDATED: SEP 22, 2010 I like the taste, except that it feels a little watery for a stout. I guess that’s the low ABV.

Tap. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Everyone knows draught Guinness. And I love it.

Beautiful pour. Great flavor. The quintessential session beer. A draft (or draught) Guinness in Ireland is as close to perfect as it gets. My favorite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Typical taste and aroma of a stout. This one is much worse than the bottled version, mainly due to the strange "buttery" mouthfeel it has to it.

On draught. Stouts always have a lovely appearance and guinness is the daddy of them all. Enticing in looks, this may be a lightweight tasting stout compared to some of those on the craft beer scene but it still packs more punch than some bland macro lager.

Black beer with a cream-colored everlasting head. Taste is like roasted flavors with a creamy coffee finish.

Fris aroma, kolenzwart uiterlijk.

I’m actually fairly surprised by the high ratings this beer has. I don’t hate Guinness. In a bar serving only crappy macro beers, it’s often my go-to sipper. (Mind you the older I get, the less time I spend in such bars.) Oh yeah, the beer. It looks great: jet black with that everlasting head. But everything about it is muted: the aroma, the taste - the carbonation. There’s a bit of chocolate and coffee, roasted grain, and a finish just dry enough to make it sessionable. But compared to a big, bold craft stout (or even St-Ambroise), I don’t see how Guinness can stack up.
