On draft at St. James’s Gate, Dublin. Smooth, creamy head over black mildy carbonated beer. Very delicious. Each one tastes better than the one before it.

Can version with the widget. Chocolate, roast and grainy malt aroma. Subtle and delicate. Deep brown with red highlights and a full, fluffy tan head that lingers. Taste is moderate roast. Dry with a thinnish mouthfeel. Not too bad. The can is not as good as some pints that i have had.

A Guinness is always a Guinness. The bottled version doesn’t hold a candle to the draught and the finish is rather watery. Still a good solid brew.

Faint roasted barley aroma. Dark red to black with tan nitrogen head. Flavors of toast, roasty, chocolate, coffee with indefinable acidity. Dry finish.

Not sure how I’ve never rated. Tap most recently. Great dark body with great, lasting tan head. Decent bitterness, but body is thin without nitro (and compared to other stouts). Still, a gateway beer into other good stuff.

from can, on tap better but still a fine drop, been 20 years since 1st tried in Ireland, dark creamy enduring head always leads to a silky smooth & tasty finish

Color is opaque, dark chocolate with a thick, creamy beige head. Smell is toasted oats, nuts, and cereal. Taste is black coffee, dark chocolate, slight toffee and finishes slightly bitter with cereal notes. Nitro carbonation makes this a super creamy beer. Not my favorite but slowly growing on me.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2014 The world-famous Irish nectar and the archetypical dry stout, tasted from can and from tap. Classic dense, beige head made out of tiny nitro bubbles, colour as good as black. Very, very creamy, velvety and bit oily mouthfeel more so from can than from tap, iron, black coffee and sweet tobacco aroma, taste a strong roasted bitterness, bit metallic, bit thinnish, finishing in a full, but not very long bitterness.

I do not know why I have not rated this before. Drank from the bottle. Aroma is chocolate, nuts, coffee. Taste is much the same with a slight bitterness at the end. Medium bodied with very light carbonation and an oily mouth feel. One of my few go to beers when I want something familiar and good.

Zwart bier met romig schuim. Smaak is rook en licht bitter, niet zoet. Blijft helaas niet erg lang hangen. Toch een erg goed bier.

A classic beer, for someone just getting into stouts. It's clean and not offensive to taste. You can taste the caramel and hits of oats. But be sure, this is a light tasting stout. Great in a dank wet pub on a Friday night.
