COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available in cans, kegs and bottles with nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Pasteurised. Usually called Draught; sometimes called Cold or Extra Cold - same beer, but served colder.
Launched in 1961.
Ingredients: Pale ale malt, about 25 to 30% flaked barley, and about 10% roasted barley, with no other grains or sugars; several hop varieties, mainly Goldings (pellets and isomerized extract); a flocculent head-forming ale yeast.

While this beer is a classic, and while everyone in Ireland seems to drink several pints a day, I’m not as impressed. The look and smell are both fabulous, but to me the ultimate taste is a bit thin and too much like charcoal. Young’s Double Chocolate is much more smooth, while any number of other stouts have more flavor.

The nitrogen is what really has made this an international beer. The beautiful head with the dark body makes it beautiful. Not as smooth as Murphy’s but has poppy-er flavor notes.

THE Stout! A bit too much of bitterness in my opinion. Beautifull white head, nice carbonation

My favorite of any extremely-common beer, and a fantastic standby. Very light, sweet aroma due to the soft, thick head. What follows is a sweet, bready taste which feels full in the mouth and finishes with a full woody aftertaste. That smoky taste can be unpleasant to a lot of people, but I think it’s fantastic. And also, I know it says you can enjoy it straight from the bottle or can, but if you can get a truly slow-poured draft from the tap, or slowly pour it yourself from the bottle, I think it’s better.

Pitch black colour, thick creamy head. Roasted malt flavour with a hint of sourness.

Nice carbonation noticed when uncapping the bottle. Nice beige colored head. Black in color with a redish brown tint when held up to light. Very malty aroma with no hop aroma present. Very insipid flavor with a slight bitterness at the end. Leaves a clean pallet. Overall an average beer. Would make a good "lawn mower" beer.

Can’t believe I hadn’t rated this yet. Pours pitch black with a thick, creamy tan head. Aroma is creamy roasted malts. Flavor is dry roasted malts with some coffee and some hops. Good stuff.

Always a smooth and creamy experience. Great mouth feel, not much an after taste. Super dark with a beautifully white head.
