Pours a brown milky colour and settles into a beautiful looking pitch black with light brown forever lasting head. Low aroma of roasted malts in caramel. Full body with low carbonation and roasted caramel sweetness finish.

Zeer donker, roomkraag. Weinig zoetig, iets bitterig. Een echte doordrinker. Bij mijn favorieten gezet.

Limited roasted malt aroma. Nice very fine bubbles in glass, black. A little roasted notes and acidity in taste and a little roasted bitter in the finish. Smooth mouth feel.

Pours black with beige long lasting head. Aroma is caramel, toasted bread, malts, milk. Taste is light, some grass, cocoa, fruits, watery, some biscuits. Nice look out but quite watery taste.

Light aroma of dark malts, maybe coffee. Beautiful apperarance, fantastic head, lacing, dark to black colour. Watery, refreshing, a bit of coffee and chocolate. Very smooth beer. Easy to drink, but it’s so bland. This beer is like a nice looking gadget... I’ve expected some more.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2016 The original. My session beer of choice. Ubiquitous and cheap, it?s always there for you wherever you go. The output is so vast yet the quality usurps that of all the other commercial beers. Pours jet black. Surge creates a creamy tan nitro head. Aroma of smokey dark malt and burnt woods. Medium bodied. Thin mouthfeel but not watery (can can be incongruous and occasionally watery). Taste has chestnut, burnt cedar, marmite , espresso and faint cocoa into its dubiously smooth finish. The cornerstone of beers. A masterclass. It is what it is.

I never got the hype, so I had to try it on tap in an irisk pub to make sure. It was better but still not that much taste and very thin mouthfeel. Very smooth though! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
