Bottle. Aroma of come coffee and roasted malt. Flavor of, well, watery malt. Palate is, well, watery. It’s just not a very good beer.

440 ml can. Creamy black appearance. Persistent creamy head. Slight roasty aroma notes. Otherwise nothing. Smooth. Almost no carbonation to note, almost flat, but still very refreshing. Very little, if any, hop aroma. Hop bitterness is non-existent. The only noticeable bitternes comes from the roasted barley alone. One can drink quite a lot of these in one sitting. A classic.

If you don’t know about this beer by now, you need to get out more. Guinness is one of the few solid beers that you’ll find at your average macro-dominated, beer-clueless bar. Pours jet black with a creamy head. Aroma of roasted malt, more of that plus coffee and a slight sour character on the flavor. Incredibly creamy and full on the palate, especially considering it’s only a little over 4% abv. Tastes much better across the pond for my money.

I’m sure at one time this was a great beer, but now it’s all hype. the appearance is nice, black with a creamy white head. other than that this is very mild, with only hints of roastiness. overrated.

Black with amazing head. Aroma is sweet malt, chocolate. Taste is sweet, creamy, with a dry finish. It’s a little thin for my taste.

[Sampled in august, 2004.] In fact this stout was one of my first successtouts and from that day I explored more and more "stouters". Therefore I’ll never forget Guinness. Notes of chocs and roasted coffee. Good beer!

8 Dec 2002 ReRate: Still one of my favour beers to look at. My tastes for stouts have grown greatly over the last couple of mounths. Guineess has a wonderful mouth feel and pretty good roasted flavours, but doesn’t have the full taste and complexity of many other stouts I have had.
5 Aug 2002:I had my first full pint on tap as a Guinness Extra Cold, one of the most beautiful beers to look at I am not a huge fan of the coffee flavour that many people love. That is personal though, the beer is nicely creamy and smooth, but not for me.
